Bit of motivation for Newbie's... from a Newbie!

When I started I was so overwhelmed with the amount of information available that I didn't know where to start (especially on here - its brilliant!). Believe me, you need to read through different systems and decide which one is best for you... you WILL make money but it does take time (don't I know it!). It's difficult to decide which one is the best for you, the way I decided was to use the one which I understood the most rather than the one that I thought would make the most money. I am hoping that once I master this system, I can move on to something else that will make even more money.

I only do this part time, but its amazing how when I get back from my 9-5 job and start working on IM, I can't stop! Sometime I start working on this at 7pm and before I know it, it's like 3am! I can see myself in a year or two doing this full time and I can't wait till I get to know the business better!

Don't be disheartened if it doesn't work to start with... it will but just give it time and work hard at it. IM is like any other business, you need to make an investment to start with (your time) and the profits will roll in after - but you will learn so much on your way!

When I got my first sale it was the best feeling ever! I hope everyone reading this will get there soon and I will be happy to share my thoughts with anyone who wants any beginner advice. I will however apologise in advance if I don't know the answer as I am still a newbie myself. I just wanted to give everyone a little motivation, because someone on here gave me my motivation when things weren't working out too well for me.

Have a great day, speak to you soon.

Well said ... When ever I see posts/sales letters/products (pointing to internet newbies), I think myself, why these people don't tell how much time/money we need to invest? All they say is '$300/hour ... money rolling in every hour' .. or something like that. But it really needs hard work in the beginning. Well I was there

      Visitsingapore,

This is the great thing about this forum... you can learn so much. Read through different threads about people making money.

Look at the different ways people are making money online... there are so many ways of doing this it's not just one way, I think that where people get confused.

Sign up to newsletters about making money, some of them are really great and even though you might not use that system, it will help you eliminate that from the list.

How far down the line are you? Do you know which system you will use as yet? or are you literally just looking around for a start. Send me your email address and I'll send you a book I got (dnt worry for free!) which helped me so much.

Happy to help anyone where I can!

I love posts like this - ones that stress such ideas as, "Believe me, you need to read through different systems and decide which one is best for you... you WILL make money but it does take time (don't I know it!)."

    VERY TRUE!!!

Persistence and patience do pay off eventually. It really is true that the only way you can fail with Internet Marketing is by quitting. If you apply yourself you will succeed.

Learning the business is a never ending process - I try to add something new to my knowledge base daily. There is a lot of information out there - this forum is a goldmine! I always suggest starting slowly - working on one strategy or technique at a time until you master it or are at least comfortable with it.

Learning about IM means nothing without applying what you learn. Take action. Be prepared for problems and obstacles along the way. But look for the valuable lessons that are hidden in each of those 'failures'. Take notes on why things did not turn out as you planned and find ways to work around that in the future.

Set goals for yourself - but don't limit your goals to dollar amounts. Instead, focus on what actions you need to accomplish in order to achieve your desired success. Then focus on those actions.

My success is very limited compared to many people here in the forum but I am generating an income. IMHO the old rule of KISS really can be applied to Internet Marketing and once you find some element of success you can 'rinse and repeat'.

Those are great suggestions Debbie! I always tend to focus on the dollar goals and I am trying to change that to process goals. Finding more traffic, different advertising, that sort of thing.

Back to what you guys were saying about checking out the systems. I recently bought into a system recommended by the company that I work for. I looked at it and thought I understood what it was, come to find out it is a pay per click system. Now this is ok, since I know that eventually I will want to go there and perhaps use that sort of traffic driving. But I would have liked to have been told that it was a ppc, here I was thinking that it was another great part of the system I have, since the company that I work spends alot of time setting us up with training and free ebooks, traffic systems, things like that. I have to put it on hold right now, since I cant afford to pay possibly quite a bit of money for clicks. Would have been nice to know.

thanks for starting this thread. You are 100% correct, when you state you have to look at different systems, to see what works. I know I got stuck for a few months, because I didn't connect with some of it. Coming from a sales/marketing background, I am so skeptical of the marketing "fluff". What I found is I learn best visually, and video training is what works best for me. It has increased my confidence and my productivity by leaps and bounds.

I know about looking up from the computer and it is hours later. I know that in time, with regular, continual efforts we will be successful. Kudos to you for your persistence.

    Dear All

All the while, I am wrong...I been to quite a few IM preview workshop and seminars in Singapore, many of them cost a few thousands bucks, until recently Jan 2009 - Feb 2009, I took a formal course from a college and they introduced me to warriorforum.com and those tools for google analytical, linking etc..

I must admit I am still new..

I'm not a newbie but I wanted to say congrats for the clarity of your thread.

The part of your thread that touches me the most is how you tell newbies that they've got to read through the different online business systems/plans/models and decide what's best for them and get started.

This will eliminate lots of confusion and info-overload if they do that one thing.

Thanks for starting this thread. It's just what I need at the moment - some motivation to keep going on.
It's true they say that to succeed in IM, a lot of hard work is needed . For me I felt the journey has been so loooong...
Admit that I'm still struggling to get that first sale, that will be the day. But I will keep on learning and this forum has helped me a lot.
Right now I'm working on a wordpress blog to promote an affiliate product.
Would really appreciate if you could also send me the book which had helped you a lot - thanks in advance.

Might I add a small piece of advice for newbies... As Peter here very rightfully states IM is not "a piece of cake" as claimed by many gurus out there. It certainly takes time and some amount of investment (though you can compensate for a certain portion of money with your own work if you have the time). My advice is that when (and believe me you will) you see offers from IM experts (or gurus), try to read between the lines to save lots and lots of money. Almost everyone I've seen so far says that their "system" can be copied by anyone, regardless of their background, skills, financial status, etc. I've been involved in this kind of activity since 2002 (no, I am not an expert or anything, so far I used certain IM techniques to promote my service website) and I can tell you that this isn't absolutely the case.

Making money online is actually a serious business and has to be treated as such. Meaning that you need to devote time and spend money to achieve success. If you are willing to put effort into it, you actually have what it takes to be successful. The rest will follow as you research, learn and apply. So don't let so called experts intimidate you and have you believe that an online business can only be successful by buying their products. Yes there are very good programs, systems and applications that will help you achieve something, but no one will give you the life that you dream of or financial freedom or a gazillion dollars a day on a silver plate.

This has been a long post, so I'm sorry for that but since this is one of my first posts here, I may be taken with the excitement of sharing a tiny bit of information that will helpfully benefit some of the new starters here. So please, when you encounter an IM product you may be inclined to buy, ask yourself some questions like "how does this actually work, how much investment and effort is required". Better yet, e-mail the person who is selling the product and ask them any questions you might have in mind. If they fail to answer or satisfy your concerns, then please steer clear to save your money for something that is really worth. And don't -ever- be fooled with any product reviews you will find on Google (or anywhere else for that matter) nowadays since almost all of them are written by affiliates of the same products and are actually sales letters and not honest reviews. I cannot stress this enough, if you don't feel totally confident about what you will get when you buy a program, subscribe to a membership service, etc, then just don't!
And one last thing, about focusing. As it is said by our fellow posters here you must choose something that you like or you think you are capable of and go on with it, without losing your focus when the next shiny object comes your way
Hope all this makes some sort of sense
    All my best wishes

We are all pretty much newbies for a long time and the lerning process never comes to an end.
Something that was said to me some time ago was don't seek perfection before you start, get started,m make mistakes and learn going folrward from the inevitable mistakes that will be made.
Until you are actually doing you will get nowhere whilst perfecting things others have started and have the jump on you and for sure their efforts will not be perfect either.
So fail going forward but fail as quickly as yoiu can and learn from those failures.
That's the nice thing about this game, there is always someone out there willing to lend a hand.
If I can help anyone I will do so with pleasure but as has been sain above I don't know everything but quite a lot more than I did when I started.

    I absolutely loved your post.

This forum (and the Waroom, as well) is such a great spurce of information.

I have only been here since August of last year (has it only been 6 months??? ), but I have already learned so much.

Now I have a binder that is devoted totally to threads from the WF! When there is a particularly great thread, I print it out and place it in the folder in the appropriate section (Marketing, traffic, offline, etc.). If I am ever having a slow day, I pull out the binder and look through it. It always gives me some great ideas.

And, yes, it does take time. But it is so worth it!!

    Thank you for posting this!
