Do Fixed-Term membership sites still work?

Hi,

In general, I have been hearing some say that "fixed-term" memberships are not good anymore. I think this is probably wrong and that FTMs are indeed still profitable. But...

I was wondering about this given that I was plan to start one in the future.

Is there anybody running a few successful ones that can give me some advice?

Thanks,
-MissTR

Yes, but they aren't as amazing as they are pitched. Many marketers sell you on the idea that you could sell a membership for $20/mo which is a relatively low amount and that person will stick around for months or years, and while $20 a month doesn't sound amazing, if you get just 200 people to opt in for membership, then you are bringing in a recurring income of $4,000 a month.

What happens a lot is people start making membership sites and then work at it for a couple months and then stop publishing any new content. Then membership drops drastically and then complaints rise.

      FaJeeb,

Can you give me an example of one of your fixed term sites?

Isn't that the purpose of a fixed term membership? If it's only for 3, 6 or 12 months you're more likely to have people stick around because they can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Of if your stick rate is (say) 3 months then having a 4 month fixed term membership site could add to your bottom line.

Anyway... as for the question do they still work? I think all continuity programs still work if you have the right traffic, right offer and provide what you are selling.

    Hi Miss TR
I believe that membership sites , like any aspect of IM, are valid. It depends on how you run them. I'd recommend taking a long look at Jimmy D. Brown.....Lots of common sense good stuff there.
