How do you create a video from your computer. I mean let's say I want to put together a video tutorial about something and I want to capture what I'm doing along with my audio instructions. Is there any free software or is it all pay?

  • Camtasia is VERY easy to use and the 30 day trial means you can see if it's for you before you invest a dime.

If you are looking for a free to use video producing programme you should try
Jing. Jing is offered by Techsmith and they are the authors of the Camtasia programmes.

You should pop over to jingproject.com to download the programme.

I have not actually used this as I am fortunate enough o have Camtasia to play with. Being self conscious I prefer to make my videos from screen captures rather than with my mugshot ion the screen.

Any tips on overcoming the reluctance to appear in thre video. Trouble is you need a good and tidy backgroung when you take the video l.o.l

From what I have seen of Jing though it appears to be simple effective and all importantly free. Lacks in wizzy facilities but they are not always needed.

From what I have learned, practice makes perfect. If you are uncomfortable on camera, act like it is a person you are talking to. Most of the the time you are going to nit-pick at everything you see on screen, where as most people will not notice that you are moving awkwardly or nervously. and the beautiful part is you can take as many shots as needed to get it right. Over time you will become more and more comfortable workng in front of the camera. Just like people do with public speaking.

If your just starting out, use Camstudio, it is free.

If you got money, you want to upgrade to Camtasia.

Camtasia is the most widely used screen capture for internet marketers.

Depending on what you need to convert, I would say Quicktime. I use this to convert all of my files. I use Final Cut, so I export .mov files from there into Quick Time then from there, I can make just about any files I wish. I personally like M4V files. They are teeny files that are specially for iposd and iphones, but they are very high quality, and they are what I use for all of my internet files.

Regarding free video creation, don't forget about making a slide show from any photos you have lying around using Windows Movie Maker, iMovie, or even Animoto online at animoto - the end of slideshows .

For video converting, I think you have to pay to get Quicktime to convert much. I like Handbrake, which is free.
