Should you email people who didnt double opt in to your list?

I have about 100 people who signed up for my newsletter but did not double opt into my list. So I have all of their emails at aweber, so im thinking about emailing them all.

I figure I would just copy and paste all of the emails and send out a mass email to them all informing them that they opted in to my list but never did confirm their email address.

Would this be wise to do? I feel like im leaving money on the table if I dont.

    Corey,

It is my understanding that this would be against Aweber's policies. I'd check before doing that.

Also, keep in mind that some 5-15% of the addresses entered aren't valid in the first place. Look at the numbers and see how they stand with that in mind.

I'd say you're better off working on improving your confirmation rate than on going after people who've failed to confirm in the past.

Thanks guys! Do you guys think its important that I change the default aweber thankyou page?

I tried to create a custom thank you page that tells my readers to check their spam and bulk folders plus telling them the email could take hours to arrive etc.

But I made the thank you page private on my wordpress site but theres a bug. The private thank you page will not show up in firefox and gets an error.

I really think im losing double opt in's simply because I dont have a custom thank you page informing my readers that the confirm email could arrive in the spam box, take hours etc.

But if I cannot make a private thank you page on my site for this what is the best route to go? I was thinking about using a free blog at blogger.com as the thank you page with instructions but im not too sure about that.

I wish there was a way to make a thank you page on my wordpress site without it being private and without it showing as another page on the sidebar. Anyone know how I could pull this off, im willing to bet that out of those 100 who never opted in I could have gotton say 25 of them to with the instructions on the thank you page.

Hey. I am not sure if it's just something I do but I turned off my double opt in (even though aweber said not to)

I have heard from some mentors that it kills your conversions....and also when I read info millionaire it said the same thing...

Now I just have single opt in and once they enter the info...there on my list....

      Corey,

      Yeah, that would help.

Why does the custom page need to be part of your blog?

any other ideas of how to set up my thank you page without it showing on the sidebar of my page? I would use blogger but I just dont trust them compared to hosting the thankyou page on my own site.

Yeah. Just create the page and upload it to the site, being sure not to give it the same name as any existing files in whatever directory you use.

You can have pages in the same directory as a blog that aren't part of the blog.

      Corey,

      "Butter."

That's what I call it when I'm looking for something, staring straight at it, and don't see it. It's like going to the refrigerator looking for the butter, and it's just invisible to you. Then someone looks over your shoulder and points to it, and says something fiendishly clever, like, "If it was a snake, it would have bitten you."

      Happens to everyone.

As long as you give them an "opt out" option you should be fine.

emailing them is not a good idea, but in your thank you page you must tell them in big writing that they must confirm. I always put a nice ecover on the page as well to remind them what exactly they will be receiving

      Corey,

      Good start.

I would also tell them what the subject line is, and include a graphic that shows the link they need to click on. (I need to update my main sign-up system with this, now that I think of it...)

Oh I see. so actually show what the email will look like? Does this actually raise the opt in rates compared to just telling what the subject of the email is?

It has where I've used it. The only way to know if it will make a difference for you is to test it.

Awesome, thanks Paul! I just put in the title of the email in my thankyou page. I will give it a few days and see how it does then I will put the image in to see how it goes.

Either way I know this thank you page will raise my double opt in's compared to the default aweber message that just says check your email, lol. Thanks for the help
