Building a list, can i use Wordpress for my site?

Hi Guys,

i am currnetly setting up a website for myself, i am hoping to use it to build a list of subscribers to my products in creation currently.

I am new to the whole list building idea, so i am wondering...

Can i use wordpress on my site with a custom theme?
Will i be able to create different areas of this site, so that i can set up different squeeze pages and sales pages?

This is sort of a holding site, where i plan to have different domain folders holding the different products i create.

Can this all be acheived using wordpress ? I have just made an Awever account as this is what i will be using to build my list.

Thanks!
-Michael

You can use WordPress for your main site and use it
    to build your list too.

You can easily incorporate the AWeber web code in
your blog, e.g. in the sidebar, etc.

For squeeze pages etc, you can either:

    1. Create a custom template for squeeze pages in
    your current WordPress theme.

    2. Use a WordPress theme that's specifically meant
for squeeze pages, sales pages, etc. E.g. OptimizePress.

    3. If you know HTML then you can just code up your
own squeeze pages outside of WordPress altogether
but still use WordPress for your main site.

Sean really has hit the nail on the head.

I personally, have a html squeeze page, and use wordpress for my blog.

I use my blog to build relationships and trust with my list, rather than using my blog to get them to opt in.

Basically, i primarily drive traffic to my squeeze page, capture the leads, give them some good value, and follow up with links to my blogs, asking for their feedback and experiences... and i do this before i pitch them anything via email. Relationships > List size.

      Good luck with your site!

      Josh

I am actually in the same boat right now currently. I have wordpress set up on my site and I am eventually going to get sales pages on it. I'm still learning, but I think it's coming together okay so far. If you wanna see how I am doing this..

      Hi Nick,

thanks for your reply, i checked out your site. Do you not think that building the site around an authoritive figure would be a better idea?

I see sites like that everyday, why not build the site around yourself, it will build trust, credibility and authority. You will become a respected figure.

Im building all the products through my own site which im just setting up, it will be called MichaelLee16(dot)com when its finished and launched.

Im not saying your doing it wrong, im just generally interested... Do you not think people would be more intrigued by a respected figure than a sales company?

      Looking forward to your reply,
      -Michael

Yes that makes a perfect point. I have really thought about that. Aside from having the name of the company I thought about adding my author page still. I'm not sure how I am going to have it yet, but I dig the idea you have going!

I think it would suit you, build a name for yourself!

Perhaps there is room for us to collaberate at some point in the future

Best of luck with your site,

        Michael,

How long will you be 16?

        Just something to think about.

Im 17 now, the idea of the site is that i have been making money online since i was 16. SO if a 16 year old can do it then so can anyone.

I will be creating products around this and creating pages for them in different areas of the site.

          Thanks,
          -Michael

I strongly believe squeeze pages is one of the most effective ways of building a list. That was how I got my first subscriber.

    Hi Micheal,

It's definitely possible and highly useful to use WP as your platform to help you build a following, and a list.

I can even suggest what I've used: OptimizePress which helps build the pages for you with a few clicks of a mouse, if you'd like.

I agree with you Jonathan...I use WordPress all the time with Optimize Press to build all my squeeze pages including other pages as well.

Both applications make an excellent platform and they integrate and compliment each other very well. Just a few clicks and you're set for building your list.

Optimize Press is a Wordpress theme that is designed specifically for this kinda thing. I LOVE optimize press! If you are serious about using WP to build your list and build a sales funnel then Optimize press is the way to go... It does cost about $100 though, but it is worth it.

hmmm, thats a shame, i had my eye on a few themes for the design of the site, however id love to use the optimizepress one for the features.

$100 is fine, its just the design issue :/

      Thanks for the help,

Hey Michael - sure you can do all the above with Wordpress. Make sure to add you sign up form to your web page so can maximize the number of optins you get.

Wordpress is very versatile and it'll give you more than you need to get the job done - Noel
