Facebook Page Question

I've ran into an interesting situation with my client and really need some opinions from the Facebook Experts on here.

Their company name goes as follows (real name changed to protect them).. "my company".

The person created the facebook page with the name "mycompany" so that when someone types in the actual name it doesn't show up in the facebook search engine.

One of the owners wrote down that he works at my company so since facebook didn't find it... they created a listing called "my company" but none of them are admins for it.

What should they do next?

Obviously the page is already created but how does one become and admin for it?

Also is there a way to SEO the original one so that it shows up for both "mycompany" and "my company" in the facebook search engine?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

I don't quite understand the first part of your situation above, but if the company or it's owners own both the pages, you just login to the account where that page was created and click on admin panel, click on edit page, click on manage admins and add or delete admins for the page any time you want.

The problem is that both of the two pages were created (not sure how the second one was) and they don't have admin access to the one with the correct wording.

Report the page to Facebook, in that case. Tell them that it is your business page, but was created by someone else. It's likely that they will close the page, so that you can create a new one.

Seems an odd move by someone though, if they aren't connected to your business and aren't using the page for anything.

I know... never ran into something like this before.

I was able to claim it though for myself and now I need to get the number of likes on it to be more than on the other one so that I can merge the two.

      what a pain...

The situation is pretty complicated. My suggestion is :

You may create a fan page a name it with something different if you don't want that your company name will be publish. To get the most of fan page, assign an admin to post updates and to reach targeted fans as well as customers.

Creating a fan page is not a complicated thing.

Thank you guys... I got it figured out now

I was able to actually create the page... even though it already showed up in the search (don't ask me why) and all I need to do now is get more likes on it and merge the one with the incorrect phrase to the one with the correct one.
