Seeking directions

I have just signed up with Hostgator. I have yet to instal WP. I hv. yet to connect with my domain. There is ton & ton of information/tutorials provided in cpanel. My objective is to set up my site & monetize it. I need advice on in which order should I take up things so that I am not lost under tons & tons of information & tutorials. If some body can list down steps, it will be a great help.

    1) Get a Host Gator account. Search Google for coupon codes so it's a little cheaper.
    2) Do your keyword research and pick out an appropriate number of keywords. (Snipers sites = 1-2 keywords, full sites can be 20-2000 kws.)
    3) Find a domain name using GoDaddy (easiest search).
    4) Buy your domain using Namecheap.com (free private registration) and link it using the two nameservers that Host Gator gives to you.
    5) Install WP.
    6) Create content.
    7) Start backlinking, social media, Web 2.0, etc etc.
    8) Bang your head in your desk a few times.
    9) Backlink some more.
    10) NEVER EVER EVER GIVE UP!!

    Research, research and research some more to find a profitable niche, set up your blog, get some good quality content on your blog, write articles and submit to article directories, create back links by using your domain name in your signature in relevant forums and other blogs and keep learning. Work consistently and persistently.



    Don't give up at the first hurdle. It's hard work but it will pay off eventually.

    I would add a couple things to JaRyCu's list

    i) In step 3) take a look at instantdomainsearch.com. It's a very useful free tool to help you find available domains

    ii) If you're completely new to Wordpress and want an easy way to make very customizable WP sites then consider buying OptimizePress. Many Warriors use it to make professional looking sites in minutes without having to learn all the techie stuff.

    I have it and it's well worth the investment
