I have been ripped off by a fellow Warrior! What should I do?

Hey warriors,

Well I hired a fellow warrior to program a plugin for me. This was back on Jan 11, 2012.

He told me that I would have it by Jan 17 approximately. Well everyday he tells me that it will be ready on such and such date, and he never delivers. I have told him constantly that if he is having problems to just communicate them with me. Or if it can't do it, no problem I can find someone else, no hard feelings. But he kept telling me, No I have it done I just need to package it up, etc etc etc.

Finally I told him that I am done with his lies and to please refund me my money that I had given him. Of course he tells me he will but then everyday he comes up with another excuse.

A friend here on the forum hired him previously for some work and he completed it and she was very happy so that is why she recommended him to me.

Any advice on what action that I should take? I have my own ideas but I also wanted to here others.

Thanks,

Trish

Trish, do they have an ad here on the forum? (WSO or Warriors For Hire or Classified Ad).

It seems you may have exhausted all "private" communications with him. Does he have a Warrior For Hire listing on the forum? If he does, I suggest you switch all future communications there. Keep everything (on your part) very cordial and professional and NEVER resort to exaggeration. Explain exactly how it is, and what you expect of him. If he values his WF reputation, he will (hopefully) be more responsive.

Keep it professional. I know how easy it is to get angry and exhausted at these types of things.

Don't resort to name calling, or 'calling them out' on the forum.

Just keep it cool. If he really is ripping people off then he will get what he deserves soon enough.

Why don't you report him to the WF Admin.

If it wasn't an advertisement on the forum specifically, there's not much for the admin here to do. It's not the Admin's job to police every transaction that occurs through private messages.

Now if it was an ad here on the forum, then that ad is the place to start with.

So if you take the number of states in a straight line from California to New York and multiplied it by highway mileage and then divide that by 52 states, that would put you somewhere around pennsylvania.
Um. Maybe I'm not seeing it. But where do you get 52 states, why would you divide the number of highway miles between New York and California by 52 after multiplying the miles times the number of states in the straight line?

Unless there's some joke I'm overlooking, it doesn't make sense to me. Why would the number of miles need to be multiplied or divided by a number of states (and when did we add the last 2 states? Last I understood we're still only at 50 states in the USA.

Of course, if we go the OTHER way (west from California to approach New York from the east, you get a completely different point...)

 Hmmm... Why on earth would you divide by 52? a) There are only 50 states in the union, and b) they aren't aligned in single file, one beside the other. 2 are not part of the contiguous United States, and at one point they can be counted 13 deep from north to south.

Probably, as an immigrant from the UK to the US I needed to learn geography better..

    1. File a dispute with the payment processor you used.
    2. Find his WF Thread if he has one
    3. Simply put on the thread what has happened, your disappointment, and requesting a refund.
    4. If he values his WF rep he'll refund you asap. If not then escalate the dispute into a claim with your payment processor.

Not that it makes a material difference, because I am sure that this is psychologically quite taxing, but what kin of sum are we talking about?

If he truly ripped you off and he shut down every communication ways, you should report him to your payment company; such as PayPal or similar to it.

If what you said is 100% true, he is not deserving to become one of WF member
