Please share with me and other interested parties here what ebook / ecover generator software you use, how much it costs, and where to get it, and why you think it's the best.

Lately I've seen some very good images of Ebooks that look less "boxy" than the usual covers you see promoting an ebook or free report... anyway, please post your suggestions (and this is not an invitation for affiliate spam, thank you very much!)

That magazine cover looks sweet!! What do people typically charge build you a cover for ebook. That might be the "automated" way to do it, just pay someone to do it. Of course I'm cheap, so I have to spend my time doing my own. Let us know if find something easier.

Is anyone using an ebook cover generator software program that does NOT require the use of an external program such as photoshop, and is totally self-contained? - oh, AND generates those cool "flexed" looking covers instead of just boxy ones?

I guess Photoshop is a necessity for those kinds of software programs... you can find earlier pirated versions of Photoshop like version 7 for free. I'm certainly not condoning doing so, although shhhh... I have done it in the past...

If you choose to go that route, BE CAREFUL and SCAN EVERYTHING before you open the files.

I'm thinking about getting that software and offering to make covers for people for cheap. I do have photoshop experience and that would be a good area to move into. Especially considering I'm unemployed...

  I've been using Paint Shop Pro for years - basically it's quite similar in function to Adobe Photoshop, so I'm not opposed to using an ecover generator in conjunction with a graphics program but I was curious if there are stand alone ecover generators too.
  
  Any other suggestions out there for ecover generators, stand-alone or otherwise?

  I received an email about this program a few days ago: Push Button Ecover Software Version 2.0 - (not an aff link)
  
  I haven't used it, so this isn't a recommendation. But it's a stand-alone program, so it may suit your requirements.

if you want photoshop actions, the best is cover action pro, I've also downloaded Jamie Iaconis's actions and they are really impressive

but if you want a software, I love this one
Quick 3D Cover - Home (boxshots, e-books covers, CD Jewel cases, DVD-cases, templates).

but you still gonna need to have some designs skills..

Totally agree that Photoshop is one of the great ones, although Paint Shop Pro has been a pretty good and reliable standby for me. It has all of the basic functions that Photoshop has plus a few additional trinkets as well. I've heard Ecover go has had some good reviews which is to be used solely for cover creation!

I use Box Shot 3D. It works well and has some nice features.

Saves me tons of time in PhotoShop.

  I'll second Box Shot 3d...it's a standalone product and does something that most others don't...actually renders your cover with true raytracing...which makes it look incredibly real.
  
  It also has some awesome features when it comes to books...you can create an "open book" effect.
  
  As a side note, I sent support an email awhile back asking for a feature...they quickly replied and in the latest update, it was now available!

I'll third Boxshot 3D... the only dedicated ecover/boxshot software that uses superior 3D raytracing - images so realistic they'll pop off the page!

I use pushbuttonecover.com. It's really easy. You still need to make your flat graphics in photoshop or psp, but then you load them into that software and out pops your cover. It's priced at 27$, but when you close the page a pop up offers it at 17$ instead. Works well for me.

I'll 4th Boxshot 3D. They are the best value for the price. I went through
the same search as well and apart from using photoshop scripts they are
the best.
