Has Anyone Ever Got In Trouble From Youtube?

Just wondering if anyone has ever tried modifying a Youtube embed video and got in any trouble with Youtube?

It says in the TOS:

If you use the Embeddable Player on your website, you may not modify, build upon, or block any portion or functionality of the Embeddable Player, including but not limited to links back to the YouTube website.
But I could've sworn I've read posts of people modifying embedded videos,

So I was wondering if anyone has ever received a warning or notice or even legal action from Youtube regarding this.

    That's a good question.

I guess some WP plugins that change skin colors etc. doesn't constitute "modifying" the player but not sure about anything else. Hopefully someone will chime in as I'm curious about this as well.

    I thought, what is "Toutube"?

Anyway, that line in TOS is basically for completion purposes but seriously, who would check stuffs like that unless it was from some highly popular videos.

How is that? If you have the code why couldn't you easily modify it?

Nobody ever said anything about Youtube NOT having a clickable backlink to the source. I don't even care about that.

I am wondering if anyone has ever modified it (if it can or can't which I find it hard to beleive that they can't or else Youtube would probably NOT have added that in their TOS) and if so have they ever gotten into a leagal action with Youtube.

So lets just stay on topic. Thanks.

Now if you mean the actual flash player part of the embed, well be my guest and show me an example of someone modifying it. It's nigh on impossible and even if one knew how to do it, there are better alternatives.
Yes I know that. I said "if it can't" because I was referring to you and what you said.

I mean ANY PART OF THE EMBED CODE. If anyone has modified it in any way and got in trouble with YouTube then speak up.

About the clickable backlink to the website.......I PERSONALLY am not SPECIFICALLY saying anything about that. Strictly MODIFYING THE CODE is all I am talking about.

Youtube just don't want you to abuse their bandwidth with the loss of credit (including backlink) to them.

What sort of change do you have in mind?
Thats the type of answer I am looking for. But what I plan on changing I can't discuss here.

I won't change the look or feel or the link back to Youtube, but I will need to modify the code. (That part I can't describe here) Sorry....

      • Auto play a video
      • Auto hide video controls once video starts playing
      • Hide controls completely
      • Hide the Youtube logo
      • Hide related videos
      • Hide or show info
      • Start video "X seconds" in
      • Combined any of the features above
Ok this is more like what I'm looking for. So to do all of this you will have to modify and make changes to the embed script, am I right?

Yeah, I don't plan on using any copywrited material and it sounds like that wouldn't be a "modified code" problem, but what did about your situation, besides getting account removed? Anything?
