Site Flipping/PayPal Questions

Don't know if these questions go here, so I apologize in advance if they don't.

Can I transfer a PayPal account to a buyer of a site that I want to flip?

I'm building a site that is going to take monthly subscription payments using PayPal.

When I build up enough income proof, I want to flip the site on Flippa. Is there any way to include the monthly subscription customers with the sale of the site without making the customers re-subscribe to the new buyers list/payment program?

I asked these questions in the community forum over at PayPal, but got no response thus far.

I really want the sale of the site to be seamless for the buyer and the current customers of the service.

Any help you guys can provide will be greatly appreciated!

Ayesha

All you do is get them to give you their paypal email and thats it.

You put their paypal email in the payment options area in the Membership script you're using.

If you're not doing that you need to get them create a payment button in their admin panel in PayPal.

    Its all very simple.

      Thanks for the responses guys.

I know how to change all of the details inside the PayPal account to the new buyer so I guess my true question is...

How do I transfer all of the current subscription payment customers to the new buyer without the customers having to resubscribe for the new buyer?

I don't want the new buyer to lose any customers and I don't want the current customers to get angry about having to resubscribe.

      Thanks,

      Ayesha

        Hey Jordan08,
For many years ago I asked this question to Paypal and the answer back then was "NO!"

        Other suggestions:
        Clickbank
        Plimus

Both Clickbank and Plimus accept Paypal payments and they allow you to transfer the accounts with funds.
Plimus can also host your digital downloads if you are selling ebooks or something similar.

        Cheers,
        Patrik

I'm nearly certain that you cannot transfer a Paypal account and that the only way to transfer subscribers is to have them unsubscribe from your account and subscribe to the new account.

Agree, you cannot transfer paypal account, and if you registered under your own name, why would you in first place..

I want the account to go along with the website I'm going to sell.

Guess I have to rethink my game plan...

I bought a membership site with subscribers from someone. The members had to re-subscribe to it under my ownership.

How did that go? Did you have a lot of members drop out?

If you're planning on flipping the site, you have 2 options:

    1) Setup a legal entity and have the Paypal account under that. When you sell, transfer the legal entity and the Paypal account with it.

    2) Don't use Paypal! Use 2Checkout, Plimus or Clickbank where transferring an account and cashflows isn't an issue.

The absolute WORST thing you can do is use Paypal and then have the subscribers sign up to a new account. Will have a huge effect on sales price as buyers are inheriting a lot of unknown risk.

Absolutely. You can transfer the entire email address if possible, if not then add their preferred address, make it the primary, and delete yours.

I'm not sure if you have an actual business Paypal account, or a personal one, and what the differences would be, if any. My information is about business accounts. I would think it would be easier to transfer something under an EIN rather than a SS#, though I'm not too familiar with how it works in the US (VA is Virginia right?)

    Hope this helps!

      Interesting...

I thought about changing the emails, but if I delete mine and make the buyer's email primary, then what happens to the subscribers that signed up under my email address? Does the subscription continue even though the email address is different?

It is a Premier account and no SSN# or EIN# is tied to it...yet. I can't tie my SSN# to it anyway because my SSN# is tied to my personal PayPal account.

      Yup, VA is Virginia.

      Thanks!

This should be confusing. You want to transfer your subscribers to your new owner?
