Hostgator provide three options to read mails, namely, Horde, Squirrelmail & Roundcube. Which one of these three you will advise to opt for.

Regards....cbnet

I've configured my email accounts in Windows Mail so I can read them all from my desktop.

If I'm logged in to HG I really just pick the one which the cursor is closest to. I find them much of a muchness.

I use Hostgator too but I prefer to configure mine through yahoo mail.

I messed around a bit with Squirrelmail, but as a creature of habit I continue to
    e-mail through yahoo.

Of the three HostGator choices, I prefer Horde. I started with Squirrel, fell victim to temptation, and have never looked back. Although, I have all but one primary email address forwarded to centralized email accounts. So I only log into Horde for one Primary Email address, and I like it the best of the three. Just one opinion. Try them all for a week, one of them will get on your nerves, one of them will be just okay, and another one will separate itself from the crowd - pick that one! Also, MS Live or some other dashboard for all of your email accounts works great, as other Warriors mentioned earlier.

I don't use any of them anymore but did prefer Horde out the three. Now I download my mail to Microsoft Outlook on my computer and on my iPhone.

I'm an enthusiastic Hostgator customer but I don't even really know what these things are.

I always set up my email through the registrar, not through the host, just because I know how to do it, that way, and it's easy for incompetent, technophobic chicks ... :p

Horde is the best of the three, in my opinion. However Windows Live Mail is my preferred email client.

You can set up Gmail to work with a domain-branded email address you set up on hostgator. The video on the following page describes how to do it (it's an older video, so things have changed a little bit, but you should be able to figure it out):

I own reseller account with them, and I am not sure what are these either. Although I am not fan of Google but you can get your free domain @yourdmain.com so I wouldn't bother figure these out lol

CB...at this point, I'm going to tell you that you are welcome to send me a private message and I can try to help you with the rest of your setup issues.

Don't use any of the webmail offered through HG. After you create an address, me@mydomain.com or whatever you chose, then look just to the right of the Email Address button and click on the Forwarders/Forwarding button. That'll take you to another screen. Forward your official email address to a Yahoo address. Do this with all of your domains, but send them to the same Yahoo address. This will make checking your email simple.

It pains me to say it because I love GMail, but never ever ever use GMail for IM activity. as my mentor says, Google already knows too much...why give them free access to more?"

I share your paranoia to a degree, but this is the way I look at it:

If "The Management" wants to know what's in your emails, they can get it no matter what you use. So, as long as I'm not trying to sell smuggled Tomahawk Cruise Missiles I'm not going to worry about it.

With Gmail I can send and receive 5 different email addresses from 5 different domains all under one Gmail account. That saves a lot of time and hassle.

Sure, they'll know I've been watching Burn Notice episodes on Hulu and try to feed me ads for Tommy Bahama's shirts, but that's a risk I'm willing to take.
