Can I b!!tch about my ISP for a moment?

For the third time this year (yep every single month), they have screwed up my bill, not issued credits etc etc I will not name them here, but they are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) company in the nation. Speeds have been ok for the most part, no dropped signals, but it takes forever for live streaming to catch up.

Today I called the competing ISP for my town, not only is it 30 bucks cheaper, but there are no contracts required. The only downside is I have to resurrect my Cisco wireless router, which god knows the password to that.

Hmmm, you just can't win. I wish I were my own ISP. What a pain in the backside.

You could just go with a Verizon/AT&T/T-Mobile/Sprint little Mifi router box...it's pocket-sized and goes everywhere you go. No need to be tied down after that. =)

I was going to say the same thing. These are very convenient and less expensive too, from what I've heard. Especially for those in the states where ISPs sound down right idiotic.

I have one of those Mifi routers in the UK. Its basically a mobile wireless router that can use 3G. You can use it anywhere aslong as you have pay as you go credit or a monthly sub

    FYI,

You should be able to reset your old router. They pretty much always have a physical reset button somewhere on them which will set it to factory settings. Then you don't need your old pw -- just look up the factory set pw (if any) online. You can do this by entering the model number and make of your router along with the words "default password." Just be sure to change it once you get up and running.

Regarding the Verizon deal, I haven't seen it myself, but as I understand it, it's basically cellular internet service which acts like a portable wifi hotspot. The good part is that it's portable. The bad part is that because it's cellular based rather than ground based, the connection speeds are much slower and the price for the service is much higher.

Mmmm, going to have to look into one of those. I have been debating grabbing one for when we vacation in the summer.

Thanks for the tip on the router BTW. Good to know, I have a horrible memory these days ugh.
