How do I promote a new article directory?

Hi, I just started a new article directory, with strict posting guidelines and policies. I wanted to get some articles going on it (wordpress based), so I installed a UAW plugin to receive articles from them, which not only turned out to fail copyscape checks, but the spins were terrible with badly structured sentences. All deleted. Plugin disabled.

So the question is. How can I attract good authors to submit to my directory?

I want to build a strict and unique library of articles, so the better authors out there will be happy to make this one of their regular stops.

    Despite all the Google updates such as panda and farmer that target content farms, you started a directory anyway, and without a plan?

    This ain't going to end well.

    Fact is 99% of article directories wind up either abandoned by the owner because they get overwhelmed having to read and edit all the auto-submitted spun crap, leaving the site inactive, or they just disapear.

    Most people don't last six months, let alone twelve.
