Excel #NAME? error, when using it as a SEO spreadsheet

Hi,

What I usually like to do, is using the minus sign (-) to note sub keywords, but I haven't had any problems with it until now: 2012-03-22_1245 - genialest's library

If anyone know how this can be fixed, or could refer me to somewhere else would it be great.

I know this isn't an Excel forum, but there might be others who have encountered the same problem.

I'm aware that it isn't allowed to make posts when it comes to complaining about others products, but this is very much relevant if you are using spreadsheets to organize your keywords.

Thanks,
Fredrik

That's because excel thinks you're trying to do a calculation or reference a cell, put a " in front of - and it'll work. Or set up the cells as text.

Thanks for the reply Yes that works, but I have other spreatsheets where it works fine without the ". Shouldn't it be possible to just turn off the calculation function? Because I'm only using it for text at the moment.

The other spreadsheets probably work because you've created a label for those cells, just do it as text, you cannot turn off the calculation function.

If you use a space before any other content (including numbers or math signs) in a cell, Excel will treat that cell as a text cell and you don't have to mess around with formatting.
