A blog is a website, a website can be a blog.

With WordPress, if you go to admin > settings > reading > you can change your home page so that it either displays the blog as the landing/home page or a static page. It is set to 'blog' by default, but if you change it then your site can become more like a conventional website and doesn't even need to feature a blog at all.

  • They can essentally be the same thing it just depends on how you have them designed. Your website could be a blog or vice versa.

A website and a blog can be the same thing if you set them up that way. For example, your website can be designed as a blog. If you are marketing a product, a website may be your better choice.

For me, website is always better than blog. I can customise it to the way I want.

Another way to look at it is:

A blog is a "dynamic website"

Whereas a website in the way I think you mean is a "static website."

A blog can be worked by more than one individual, where a static site has only one webmaster to input information.

Wordpress is a "dynamic" website, and, say, a Frontpage site is a static site. Both have their good points, depending on what use you want to put it to.

Blog and Website both are different, if you want to share your knowledge, you thoughts, Your Experience, News, etc then you can go for Blog using any CMS blog like Wordpress or Blogger. But if you want to share your Products and you want corporate Looks then you should to go for Business Website.

    Cheers

When you're going to relate those two, it's going to be something like this: All blogs are websites, but not all websites are blogs. Well, that's if you're looking at websites as something static just as housewarrior here mentioned. Kinda made me remember my geometry a bit: all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. Sorry for going off-topic there.

Blog is a type of website, or say a sub set of Websites. Blogs are normally used as CMS - easy dynamic web site to set up if you want to publish some articles. A website is a general term - it can be a static site, a membership site, a serach engine, a free email service, an ecommerce site, a blog.

There are terms with very fixed meaning and I dont understand how someone can define it as (s)he like!
