Google Analytics Goal Conversion Tracking

I am trying to track my sales with Google Analytics.

Last night, I added a goal funnel to one of my sites in Google Analytics. In the funnel I have my sales page and my thank you page.

I wake up this morning and I can't wait to track the sales that I made overnight and when I look in my Google Analytics all the stats for the goal/sales show zero even though I clearly had several sales.

Google Analytics is tracking the visitors to the sales page and thank you page to this site, but it is not showing up in the goals stats.

Am I missing a step?

    Did you figure it out? Maybe it takes more time to process that type of data and show it? It has been some time since I did that last time.

    Yeah it didn't work for me one time either. I never did figure it out because for the next campaign I set it up the same way and it worked fine.

    Firstly, GA tends to take a while to show conversions. Its likely you just need to give it 24 hours or so.

    Secondly, the page that you've set as a completed goal....is it an absolute URL or does it contain querystrings when the visitor hits it?

    Remember, you need to set different match types for each

    eg.

    EXACT MATCH

    www.somesite.com/thankyou.html

    HEAD MATCH

    www.somesite.com/thankyou.html?id=259&order=true

    Something else to check....

    GA for some reason or another tells you to enter in just the page name when specifying the URL, but Ive found this doesnt always work. In most cases, Ive entered in the full URL and its worked.

    You need to be mindful though, that its pointless chopping and changing things every 5 minutes. You'll need to make a change, give it 48 hours, check it, then decide as to whether or not its working, or if it needs fixing.

    Dont forget also, that its worth finding out where your conversions are coming from.

    This can be easily achieved by using Googles URL Builder
