Default Camtasia Expert Needed (I'll even pay you!)

I have a list of about 10 questions I need help with getting Camtasia to work the way I want it to.

I've tried registering with the Camtasia forum but I've yet to receive a login confirmation.

I've tried posting on Rentacoder but I've had no responses.

I have some (what I believe) are very simple questions for anyone who's familiar with Camtasia and its different formats.

Anyone willing to help me........please?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I'm assuming you've tried a few of the following Camtasia tutorial resources! In case you haven't it might help a little...

I am using Camtasia Studio V5. I want to be able to produce a video sales letter which has no timeline or playback controls visible underneath the video.

1. What versions of Adobe Flash (and related tools) should I have

2. How do I ensure that my web visitors are most likely to be able to view my video without any problems

3. How do I ensure there won't be any problems with thousands of people viewing the video at the same time? Any advice on setting up with Amazonaws.com

4. I can record a short sample video and you can tell me where I've gone wrong. I can also record which Camtasia Studio options I'm choosing.

5. Recording setting required + Production setting required. Recommended screen resolutions.

6. After recording and producing a video, how do I load it back into Camtasia so I can try producing it again with different settings? (when I try and import it, it forces the screen resolution to be reduced.) Where is the file stored?

7. How do I stop the timeline being shown on the produced video? I do not want my visitor to be able to control the playback or see how much time is left to play.

For example see:

cbautomatedincome.com

(I'm not sure if this is done in Camtasia but this is similar to how I want to show it)

8. How can I set it up so I can show both powerpoint slides + screen capture in the same video?

9. How can I show text above the video? Again like in
cbautomatedincome.com

10. Which option should I be choosing: One Video, Express video or Legacy SWF? The only one which seems to allow "no playback controls" as an option is the legacy option.

Camtasia will display a note automatically for the view to download the flash plugin i mention above for their particular browser.

I doubt you will, some hosts have over 6GB of monthly transfer of bandwidth. while others have unlimited. Well, it's not unlimited, no such thing, but that's what hosting companies like to say any way to draw ppl in. The average user doesn't use any more than 1GB a month, while others don't exceed 6GB a month.

Always capture the screen and render the video in the same resolution / size, doesn't matter what size you set it at... best viewable size for websites is 680 x 480

Press the save button and locate the saved file.
Simply choose the appropriate setting, ie "recorded dimensions" setting.

Where is it stored? where ever you stored it to.

Choose this in side the settings before production / rendering.

Import the separate powerpoint presentation and edit which areas you want to be displayed in the timeline.

The thing to remember with most hosting packages is that while they do have plenty of bandwidth if you have more than 2 consecutive views at the same time it will bog down.

If you just put it on a website and dont have lots viewing all at once its fine.

As I do coaching in a conference room quite ofter I will have 10 people all watching together and a normal hosting program will not handle this.

What?...lol having two ppl loading the same file will bog it down?

mate, I know Australia is behind times in regards to technology, but crikey sport, what hosting package you got?

My sites get thousands of visitors a day, many, just like this site / forum, have pages hit at the same time, no lag or anything.

Hi Chris,

I HIGHLY suggest you do NOT hide the video controls. That really aggravates me to no end. I know most of the heavy hitters in IM do that but it's annoying. I'm not going to watch a video not knowing when it will even end. Is the video 1 min. long? 20 min? 1 hour? yikes!

If you really feel compelled to hide the controls then at least have the courtesy to tell your viewers how long the video is. Something like "Please watch this 10 min. video below".

Good luck!
Dennis

PS: Loz, thanks for sharing those tips publicly here.

Yeah. Nice one Loz. Much appreciated.

Does Chris maybe mean that there are no controls showing but when you hover over the bottom of the video with your cursor the controls appear?

That would be the best option I think, as I too get very annoyed with videos where you just don't know how long they'll play. Invariably I'll just click out of the site if that happens.

Roy

Well Loz how many self hosted videos on your site. I have over 60 and believe me if they were all running off my personal hosting account it would bog down. They could all be running at once and I noticed my server bogging down. It is shared hosting.

It was great when I had just a few but that is now not the cae.

I have an audio program that I sell and it is getting a huge number of visitors and it too started to slow a bit as the numbers grew.

I have done all the tests with different servers and clients and Amazon came up pretty well.

How many?

Over 400, and not a lag at all. It helps if you have a good hosting provider with kick ass servers, if you can afford it. Mine cost $25k a pop on a dedicated hosting solution.
