Tools or Sites for Finding Niche Forums?

Hey,

I am trying to use forums to promote my new affiliate site. The niche is economics. I tried browsing Forum Finder and Board Reader but couldn't find any related to that niche. I also tried doing a Google search with the keyword +inurl:forum. Didn't really turn anything up. Does anyone know a more effective tool or system for finding niche forums and communities?

Thanks,
Kalen

In Google, instead of the keyword, use the general niche and then forum. i.e. crochet forum, dog forum, etc...

Come up with synonyms or at least related terms for economics - finance, money, etc...

Thanks I actually was doing "economics" but because of the nature of that niche it had a lot of things that weren't the kind of forums we use in Internet marketing (i.e. World Economic Forum). I guess I will just have to try going further down the list or be a little more creative with my search.

I'm pretty sure there's a software out there that can find you profitable niches. One i've seen is "Micronichefinder".

With all due respect, as someone who hangs around a lot on the type sites that could fall under the catagory of "economics" I've seen a great deal of hostility to posers who think they can waltz right in and pick the pockets of the members.

The shear fact you're asking about it here tells me you probably won't be speaking their langauge.

      Just food for thought...

Bill I have an MBA and I've studied economics extensively, although mostly out of school. I am a professional financial writer and I am not picking anybody's pockets. I am actually not even planning on making a lot of money off of it. I am more interested in writing a blog to share thoughts on the misconceptions, because I have become really irritated with the comments I read in the articles every day. But I want some kind of revenue and will mostly be doing ads for forex trading and some simple Amazon products, which I know won't make me a ton of money. Not being defensive by the way. Just setting the record straight.

However, I spend a lot of time reading the news, but haven't found too many forums which I could participate in either for discussion purposes or to promote a blog with.

Understandble, and my apologies if my post came off as harsh. I'm just of the mind that folks should know a wee bit about the topic before they try to monetize any particular group just for the sake of making money. It's a personal quirk.

Since you are versed in the subject, are you familiar with guys like Mish or Kunstler, as examples (without Googling them ), or is that not your style.

I read Global Economic Analysis from Mish. He has has a lot of good point, but the people in the economy subreddit I read are kind of annoyed with him posting there a lot. I like most of it though. I also read from Zero Hedge and Michael Snyder (the founder of The Economic Collapse Blog), but their posts are too slanted to always be of value. They have some good tips though. I also follow Krugman to a degree, but I am not much of into Keynes like he is.

So maybe I could just try to work with them and do some guest blogging. I think those connections would probably help more than working through forums.

I tend to agree. There's a pretty tight network of folks like Chris Martenson and Charles Hugh Smith, as examples, that could give you a lot of exposure if you could network or guest post on their blogs.

ZeroHedge is just a kick to read. Love reading the comments.

Btw, I'd pay a lot more attention to Kyle Bass than I would Krugman.

      Hope you find a spot...

      Best,
