Twitter suspended don't know why?

I have used a personal Twitter for over a year and just made one a few days ago for a business. I started out following 200 people and did 15-20 @ reply's to some people that were very specifically wanting the service we provide. I get on the next morning and my account is suspended & no email or anything explaining why. Twitter support didn't do anything to explain why or help me restore it.

A few days later (today) I make a new account and only follow 50 people that I found through the search bar relating to our service. I had one person ask about our service with an @ to us. I responded and helped him. I then only did 2 @ tweets to two people wanting the service we provide. I go to log on later today and that account is suspended.. what the heck? In both accounts I never made any generic posts that were repetitive, never even did any links. My first account the 15-20 tweets were all personalized to what their problem was and the second account was the same, but only 2 tweets.

I suspect someone has made a complaint of you spamming them, that's why you're banned.

I know what twitter defines as spam, but what have you guys found that you can do without being considered as spam to individuals?

The first account I did find some specific tweets where people were asking for our product and I just told them that we could help them in a personalized hand written message (15-20 messages total). I had followed 200 people that were extremely targeted to what I offer.

The second account I only followed like 50 people and only did 2 @ reply tweets and did not try to market at all. Only answered 2 direct questions. That account was banned in a matter of hours also.

I personally do not feel that I spammed in the first account. I know I didn't do anything at ALL in the second account..

Simple. It's a social network. Be social and network. Using Twitter to spam out sales messages is not likely to make you very rich.

you should ask twitter support then, maybe your ip was the key to list on suspended list(guessing).

Twitter does not generally block via IP address.

      From their info:

"Why can't you block a user from making new accounts?

IP blocking is generally ineffective at stopping unwanted behavior, and may falsely prevent legitimate users from accessing our service.

IP addresses are commonly shared by numerous different users in a variety of locations, therefore blocking a single IP may prevent a large number of unrelated users from logging into Twitter. In addition, IP addresses are easy to change and any blocks can be easily circumvented by logging in from a different location, a third-party service, or one of many free websites or applications."

This happens with quite a few accounts that don't do anything out of the ordinary.

How are you contacting their support?

Instead of posting here and asking, take a look here:

      https://support.twitter.com/articles/18311#

      Look at the "Spam" heading.

More than likely, that's where you'll find what you did.

      Edited to add:

The appeal process is shown here:

Ya, I have looked over all of their rules. The only thing I can think of is that when I followed those 50 people that x amount of them blocked me. I am not sure how you are supposed to build a follower base with a targeted market for a business if you get blocked.

Can anyone that has built multiple "Business Only" twitter accounts and not gotten blocked give some feedback of how you can without getting suspended?

          I'd be happy to.

What was your @ reply like? Were you saying the same thing to multiple people?

Were you posting any personal updates? Anything that would make it obvious that you weren't a bot?

Did you add any kind of personal touch to your @ replies? ("Hey, saw your post about _____. Looked great! I learned that _____.") Anything to show there is a human being behind the account?

They were all hand written and very personalized. Every tweet I had made @ someone in a reply was very specific to what the person had tweeted. I did not look like a bot at all. Since I wasn't botting!

              Okay, first things first.

When you get the automated reply from support, what link are they sending you? (You can PM it if you don't want to post it.)

              We'll go from there.

Edited to add: SOMETHING in your account caused either users or staff to see it as a spammy account (I'm assuming it was suspended for spam unless you indicated otherwise.)

Could be the bio, the type of business offered (adult material, MLM, etc), the username, etc.

If you have personalized tweets sent from a username like @xxxBIGKNOCKERSxxx or @MakeABazillionDollarsOvernight, it doesn't matter how great the tweets are - the account is going to be flagged by the username alone.

More details (again, feel free to PM) are helpful to solve mysteries.

Edit #2 - were the only tweets you had @ replies to people offering your service?

It wont let me send a PM until I hit 50 posts.

This is the automated response I get everytime I try to follow the steps from their website to un-suspend an account.

I have reply'd to the email just like it states. Still nothing happens.

                Hello UnlimitedData_!

We understand that you're contesting an account suspension. Please be sure to read this entire email; you will need to take further action in order to reopen your ticket and trigger a review of your account.

Twitter suspends accounts for a variety of reasons:

                • If your account was suspended for aggressive following behavior, you should have received an email notification to the address associated with your Twitter account. You'll need to confirm that you've removed all prohibited following automation from your account, and will stop any manual aggressive following behavior. To expedite your appeal process, please review our Best Practices page if you haven't already, and then reply to this ticket with a confirmation that you understand our policies and will not engage in any prohibited following behavior.

                • If you didn't receive an email indicating why your account was suspended, please take a minute to review the Twitter Rules. If you suspect you've been suspended for another reason, please reply to this email with a short explanation.

                • If you received an email from saying 'you're being suspended' or that we're going delete your account, you're safe; the email is fake. More information here

                • While we strive to avoid mistakes, it's also possible that your account was suspended in error. If after reviewing the Rules, you have no idea why your account was suspended, just reply to this email indicating as much, and we'll take another look at your case. Our apologies if the error turns out to be ours.

                Thanks,
                Twitter Trust & Safety

                ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Responding to this email will reopen this ticket and put your ticket in queue for support. If you do not reply, your case will be closed. Note that you need to reply from the address this mail was sent to. If you use an alias (such as to manage your account, ensure that your reply comes from the alias address or your ticket may not be seen by our support staff.

Please note, we cannot accept email attachments at this time; please include all information in the body of your request.

(I had to delete links and email addresses in the post because my post count wasnt high enough here yet.)

I have contacted them from the "account suspended" tab when I log in to Twitter. It has you fill out a form. I have followed all the steps to reverse the suspension, but only get automated responses lol

Yes, just contact support and explain them the situation. It's not that rare to happen, don't worry (it happened to me a few weeks ago as well). The team will help you sort it all out fairly quickly, but you'll definitely need to get in touch with them and explain the situation as clearly as possible.

    All the best,

You will get an automated response when you ask why you got banned. You have to REPLY to that email saying you read the rules and still don't know why you got banned. Otherwise they won't respond. It will take about a week to get a response.

I got suspended from Twitter a while back... apparently their system automatically bans people they think are only using Twitter for advertising and I got blocked because most of my status updates had links in them. They reversed it within a week of my email.

You open a new account and start mass following people for the purpose of promoting your service.

Someone reports you as a spammer and you're toast. No big surprise why you're banned.

Because whether it is a telephone number, cell number, email, twitter account, etc., what you consider to be your valuable and targeted messages appear to other people to be spam.
