New to the board, and to be honest, I have zero experience with internet marketing, which is why I joined what I heard to be the best internet marketing message board on the net.

I've got a lot of experience in "real world" marketing, and I'm assuming some of the same principles apply, and while I'm pretty technologically savvy, I don't pretend to know how this is done.

I'm here to say hello, see if anyone wants to take a chance on a new student, and learn all I can....and of course, hopefully supplement my income eventually. Any and all help is appreciated...look forward to talkin' with you guys.

Gents, you will be pleased to know that marketing basics are still much more important than the technology. If you understand how to sell, you're already miles ahead of most people who get into the game online.

Focus on selling, not the silly buzz-o-the-day stuff, and you'll do great.

Thanks for the love. I'm interested in having some email conversations with some of you experts...for me, that's more involved and easier for me to learn than sifting through threads -- I feel like my lack of knowledge on this subject leaves me looking for a needle in a haystack with this stuff. Anyone interested in breaking it all down for me?

Until you have a product or a plan, it's really not necessary (or useful) to break it down. It can be as complex as Amazon, or as simple as Uncle Booger's Bumper Dumper.

Welcome and good luck to both of you! Don't forget, however, that INTERNET marketing is about MARKETING mainly, so while technological knowledge doesn't hurt, it's not the most important thing you'll need (although it could be a benefit).

All the best and don't hesitate to ask,

I'm new here also and I've had some experience internet marketing but I am here to learn how to create automated monthly income. I am sick of working for someone else and hope my technology skills can help me become a strong IM. I plan to blog and write about traffic increasing methods I have used for many small business websites. I am no traffic Guru but I plan to be in time. TARGETED TRAFFIC is my main concern. The writing, graphics, and websites are easy for me.

    My traffic methods

    1. Google Places & other listing sites
    2. Craigslist & Backpage
    3. Adwords
    4. SEO
    5. Articles (Want to get syndication going)
    6. Forum Posting
    7. Reviews
    8. Yahoo! Answers
    9. Facebook/Twitter
    10. LinkedIn

I am not actively using all these but I plan to spend a month or so crash coursing on all of them and seeing what sticks best for me.

First thing you guys need to do is make a signature with a link, even if its just your email. This place has a lot of people looking around, clicking, and anything helps! I know without even being here long that those signatures get conversions.
