Do Untargetted Facebook Fans really work?

I am in a musical solo act, and found my self wondering how to grow my Facebook Fan Page. Of course the first thing I went to go search was to see if I could do it for free.

That's when I ran into those sites where you like a whole bunch of pages, and you gain points so others can like your page too.

After a while of clicking "Like" on thousands of fan pages, or more, I began looking at the pages of these people.

I saw very low response levels from their fans. In fact, I was using an account that wasn't even my personal account, and only logged in once a month if it is lucky.

In my eyes, I started seeing these other people as spammers, and made me loose respect for them subconsciously.

Even music, that is so universal, has its target market, and I would not sit down and listen to rap and enjoy it, as much as I would enjoy pop rock. So even in that case, most people couldn't relate to the content being posted.

It looks good from a distance, but when people start seeing that not even 1/3 of the people on the Fan page respond, it starts looking bad.
Those are my thoughts on those type of sites.

Have any of you had any success with them?

I bought a package a while back that gave me 2,000 Facebook likes. I wanted to try it out and figured what the heck, it was only five bucks. I got my 2,000 likes, and a couple months later I am still at 2,000 likes. I don't think that buying those likes really helped me.

    Just my opinion.

  • I can't see how it could help.

    Kettle.

Why do people expect to get natural results through unnatural methods?

The same questions over and over and over.

Any paid or exchange method to acquire fans and followers through tricks is only going to get fans from bots or dummy accounts like the one you are using.

You don't find it ironic that you are using a dummy account to execute the method you hope to lure real accounts with?

The easiest way to get real fans and likes is to drive real traffic. If you don't have the time or work ethic to build a following, use PPC and point the link at your page.

Ad clicks are usually real clicks.

Exactly, its like having a list of non-existent people.

I agree. What I did notice, was that in the same website, there was also a service that you can gain points by watching the first 30 seconds of a YouTube video.

Since I had recorded a few YouTube Videos, I decided to earn points so my could get watched.

As I watched others, there was many very intriguing videos, that I had to stick around till the end of the video.

They would grab me. Many bands and solo artist as well. Many of them I did click through to the actual YouTube site and subscribed to their channel.

      Some things work, some don't.

As I mentioned to the previous poster, some things work, but Facebook doesn't seem to be one of them.

The main reason I created the extra account was because I was trying to make connections to find other network marketers, when I was involved in that.

I must say, I made a lot of great relationships with many. Mainly what we would do is go around groups in Facebook about Network marketing.

Many people would post spam. Some would post quotes, and others would post useful content on the groups wall.

I would send them a request, with a friendly hello in the message and a greeting. I would stay away from the spammers.

Most network marketers who do that, love getting new request, and talking to new people.

Even if they may not be interested particularly in what they have. When I built those relationships I realized how powerful it could be to exchange promotion space for each others business, whether its through email, or other forms.

I never really proceeded with Network marketing because I didn't like the fact that you had to call your leads and try to close them that way.

Although I am sure you can avoid that somehow in internet marketing.

I wouldn't put too much effort into it. It's a waste of time in my opinion. You're better off with a squeeze page, driving people there, and following up for sales.

I am thinking about a fan exchange myself. I intend to use it to improve my social signals for seo.

If you aretrying to generate traffic, then I would not recommend it. I look at these exchanges just like I look at traffic exchanges.

They improve your traffic count but don't deliver real traffic.

The only benefit I can see from those sites that reward you for liking other pages, is on the off chance that they actually have real people who have liked their pages. I have had very minimal success running paid Facebook Ads that target the friends of the people who have liked my page.

On the other hand I have seen some good results from running targeted Facebook Ads using free advertising credit. I got $50 for filling out a survey on a Facebook page, and then was offered $100 from Facebook after advertising with them for about a week. Smooth sailing so far. I hope you find the success you're after.
