Insane amount of hacking going on in my computer

Okay I am totally desperate.

In the past week my PayPal, MSN, Facebook and oDesk were hacked. Because of the fake jobs created on oDesk I am actually seeing money being lost in my bank account now.

I recovered my PayPal and Facebook accounts.

I have since sent my computer to my local shop for a reformat. I thought I'd be safe.

And now, my blog, personal email are all taken over. My Facebook has been hacked AGAIN. My Skype is also gone.

What the bloody F**K can I do?!?!

Get a free program call cccleaner to start. Then change all your passwords. There are programs that you can get to change your passwords, all the time. Try this one, I have heard great things about it. https://lastpass.com/

    I hope this helps.

Possibly one of your files (hardrives, usb sticks) has a virus exposing your details. I suggest manually scanning and cleaning your PC and ALL OTHER DATA.. using a premium antivirus. Log in from a different "secure" PC and change/recover all your login details if possible, and also make sure your using the latest browser ect.

Dont make easy passwords, at least 12+ characters including symbols like: guessmyp@sswordnoW?

Good call on Lastpass Ken, I've been using it for a while now.

They have a password generation feature that's quite useful too so you can generate some really secure passwords.

When you get the PC back, make sure to run regular virus & malware checks, make sure you're using a firewall. - Check any external drives too.

It might be best changing your security questions too for anything you use that has them .. also any account information that you had stored in your email account .. change passwords for them too just incase.

check this thread and apply it to all of the accounts u have, I know facebook and gmail allow sms verification

    http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...step-step.html

Make sure you do them from another computer, did you check if your operating system has the latest updates? it could be a vulnerability in the system that they can access even if you reformatted but didn't update or maybe another system in u r house is infected and it can infect you.

Another thing is it could be your wireless device, make sure to reset your wireless router and change the password, DO NOT USE WEP encryption, make sure its WPA or WPA2 if somebody has access to it, they can "sniff" all the packets that are being sent and steal your passwords...

Maybe the local shop copy is infected or they are using a cracked copy that has been altered..so even if you did the format you will still get the same copy with the same issue...

    Lots of maybes...

Edit: Forgot to mention that chrome / firefox have a huge security issue so you need to update them if u r using them, also if you are using Remote Desktop make sure you update your windows as I mentioned before as last week there was a huge security issue with that that allows the attacker to gain access to your pc.

Thanks guys. I am desperately trying to regain control of my facebook and blog accounts, and also my email which is from my registered domain.

I can't seem to access the facebook SMS verification. it's pretty damn hard considering the registered email from my Facebook account is now hacked.

    What can i do?

Oh man, I never felt so lost before.

Format and re install from a known good source. That's all you can do.

I have so many clients that insist I remove all 10+ viruses instead of letting me just back up their data and format. I usually hear back from them again a month or two later with more issues. Ugh. (Well, hey. More business for me I guess.)

    Hi Alden,

No need to reformat your PC again.

    (1) Make sure you quarantine infected files.

Disable Anti-Viruses including the so-called Premium ones.

Use these 3 software on your PC ASAP:
    -> Webroot = anti-virus, firewall, anti-malware, anti-worm, anti-rootkit, anti-keyloggers etc
-> MalwareBytes AntiMalware => specialist software on Malware
-> Trojan Remover => specialist in Trojans

All the 3 software are very light, very quick and very reliable. They do not clash with each other and work together well.

Run a scan one after the other ( including your thumb-drives and external hard-drives ). Let them quarantine suspicious files and software.

    (2) Make sure the WIFI or LAN connection is safe from spying sniffers

I suspect, this could be the issue on how your new passwords were compromised or stolen. It could be compromised during your visits to Cafes or by a bad neighbour sniffing your WIFI.

Subscribe to a Paid VPN, even for a month. This is a temporary precaution or continue as you like. Will cost you about $5 to $10.

The purpose is to encrypt your data traveling to/from your PC.

    (3) Update Your browsers & Get a Temporary Free Email Address & Check Your Server

Temporarily, do not use your SmartPhones or Tablets for Internet activities until you have established the source of the leaks. Maintain using your disinfected PC. Also register a new Free Email Address, preferably Gmail.

If you're using a registered domain email address, I suspect your web server is compromised.

One way for the culprit to get info from your email is by redirecting incoming emails or set copies to be sent to his email address.

So you need to check inside add-on domains, sub-domain redirections, email redirection and default email address area of Cpanel, if you're using Cpanel.

Probably, there might also be a rogue app or file installed in your web server.

You either use a scanner or diligently dig into the files hosted in your server. The best pointer is to start looking at your File Access Log ( Raw, Awstat and Webstat ) and see access tries in to strange looking file names.

    (4) Make sure your passwords are different for each system

Passwords considered as strong and highly recommended should have at least 12 or 13 characters. And it must not be taken from the dictionary.

At least 3 numbers + at least 3 special characters + at least 3 lower caps alphabet + upper caps alphabets.

This time, write your passwords for each system in your pocket notebook. And temporarily do not use Browser Remember Password Option.

For more detailed info, check out these 2 WF Blog entries:

    -> Better Safe Than Sorry

-> Why The Hell Do I Need A VPN

Hope this note would be of some help for you.
