How to drive traffic to a forum or social network?

i bought a social network/forum script and am now live with it. during my first week launch i used twitter to get sign ups. i have 250 - launched 2 weeks ago.

signs ups have died down to about 5 a day now.

any ideas on how i can get people to my new site?

    Purchase some advertising on related sites. Also, you should sign up with Google AdWords. You are charged on a pay per click basis and it is a little pricey, but you can set your own budget and it might be a good idea with a start up website to get the word out there.

    Using a post exchange service can help get things off the ground. Just find one that is strict on the posters quality (i.e. you get to rate them and poster payout is determined by their rating).

    Try social bookmarking it, you can also try answering questions on Q&A sites like yahoo answers and aol answers. Answer questions that are related to your forum niche and you can give or recommend your site to the person who ask the question
