Brand names/Wiki/Vids on first page

Wanting some advice, if you would be so kind.
Say you found a keyword, good cpc, sites in top 10 have average of 50 backlinks to their page and everything looked dandy, BUT, the sites in question on first page were Wiki/Ebay/Amazon or any authority sites you can think of, would you stay clear, even though the pages have little backlinks?
Also what if the first 2 results were YT videos with hundreds and thousands of hits?
Do you take into account the sites that are on first page regardless of if they have hardly no backlinks, example, is it harder to outrank authority site with minimal backlinks to that sub page then a pr3 site with minimal backlinks to the page?
