People Experienced with Aweber...

Basically, I'm looking to set up a kinda automated email list project.

It will involve emails going out automatically once a week, some with downloads and so on.

What I am wandered is if I say have 1000 on the list now and they've been on the list for... 3 days, and then I set up an automatic email to go out after week, will it send it out 1 week after they joined?

I hope that makes sense.

Basically, I don't want to create every week of content before I even start marketing the website to build my list.

Thanks in advance for any help offered.

You can sequence your emails according to any time frame you please. Go to the messages tab and then click on the followup tab. You can set it all up there the way you please.

I love Aweber. Mailchimp is a close second. You design as many emails as you like, schedule them to go out 3 days later, 5 days later, whatever, and they are automatically sent out in timed sequence with each participant according to when they were added to the list.

So even if I create the timed emails AFTER they joined? It will still send them out a week or whatever after they joined?

Exactly...That's what followups do. They schedule the emails according to the time a person joined your list. If you want to send an instant email to the whole list then you can use the broadcast option.

The clock starts for each subscriber the day they join.

      1. Subscriber A joins today, 03-25-2012, and s/he recives the confirmation message and the 1st follow up message today, then the next follow up after 7 days, etc.

      2. subscriber B joins tomorrow, 03-26-2012, and s/he recives the confirmation message and the 1st follow up message on 03-26-2012, then the next follow up after 7 days, etc.

      And so on.

Besides the autoresponder messages, you can also shedule broadcast messages to go the exact dates you choose, and to the exact segments you choose, or to all of them.

      Use both

    Thank you Alminc.

My question is: If I create the autoresponder messages AFTER they have already subscribed, will they still send to the old subscribers?

Yes AND they will catch them at whatever point in the followup sequence they are in. So, to reitterate. The older subscribers will get the new messages:
      1) Followups - In the order you want them to receive the messages depending on when they subscribed.
      2) Broadcast - The subscriber will receive the message according to the date and time on which you set for them to receive the message.

I may have repeated in different wording what others have already stated. Once you begin working with the system it won't be long before you see how it works.

I wouldn't be too anal about starting out doing it perfectly. You are going to make mistakes. That's a given. Every process has a learning curve. AWebers system is very forgiving. If you mess up you can correct it. It also seems that subscribers notice a lot less than we give them credit for noticing.
