Please evaluate my site and be BRUTAL!

I'm a newbie and I've been reading and researching Internet Marketing for over a year. I finally took the plunge and I'm just now ready to launch my first product for sale and I would greatly value the brutal judgement and criticism of the WARRIORS! LINK TO SITE IS IN MY SIG!!!!

Here is what I have already done:
  • I have a product which consists of an e-Book, 6 MP3 audio files, 5 e-workbook sheets and a spreadsheet file. All are immediately delivered via download.
  • Product is registered with clickbank and awaiting approval any day
  • I've set up six blogs and have begun writing articles on the subject related to the product.
  • The blogs utilize combinations of 10 keywords related to the product which I then associate links to within the blogs whenever the keywords are mentioned.
  • The blogs have banner ads to my product page as well as general clickbank text ads which link me as an affiliate.
Here is what I am still planning on doing:
  • My site will have an e-mail aquisition form where people who get to my site will put in their first name and e-mail address to receive a "Sneak peek" of the e-book (the first three chapters), i will then have automated e-mail follow-ups to those people to get them back to the site for conversions.
  • My site will have an affiliate page with easy to copy code for affiliate to insert into their pages for display advertising. It iwll also have a link for affiliate sign-ups back to clickbank. It will also have sample blog posts with links back to my site that affiliates can copy into their own blogs or use as e-mails to their customers.
  • I will be starting a weekly podcast on the subject with advertisements directing traffic back to the site.
So, my seasoned warriors, I ask you for your brutal and frank advice. Is this product worthy of the effort? Have I written the right copy? I s the page set up properly to generate conversions? Is there something else I should be doing?

I await your brutal honesty! LINK TO SITE IS IN MY SIG!!!!

Is it the link in your sig? It's hard to evaluate when you haven't given us a site to look at ...

I think you need more 'Thud Factor'.

Here's some ideas for additional bonuses:

        Guide to improving SAT scores

Finding money to pay for it all (without digging your way to China)

Picking the right college for you (why the Ivy League isn't for everyone)

At a declared price of $25 a pop, you can push your perceived value to $200, which should nicely improve your conversions.

Floyd, thanks for the thoughts... I think I can add some of those bonus ideas. I wasn't sure what you meant by the above quote though.... can you clarify?

            Paul Meyers invented the term.

It's basically a measure or perceived value. The more value, the bigger the 'Thud'.

Just drop a set of encyclopedias on the floor sometime and you'll understand when you hear the sound it makes.

I think your sales page looks fine. However, you need to get some testimonials.
Also, consider raising your price a bit.

And the last thing, you made a critical copywriting mistake. Those red crosses next to the items a person will receive is a no-no. Never use red crosses. It brings feelings of "stop", "danger" etc... Go for a green or blue tick mark.

OMG! You are so right! I didn't even think about that... I'll change that in the next ten minutes!

BTW... There ARE testimonials a little further down the page.

You need to realize that people scan sales pages, just like I did. And I didn't spot the testimonials right off the bat.

I suggest you get some legitimate images to go with those testimonials because that is the norm for testimonials. And to increase your conversions, you may want to get audio testimonials from your peers to go with the photos. Social proof is what sells the best.

So funny... this is one of those cases of conflicting advice because the look and location of the testimonials is deliberate, based on this advice I had read that made sense to me:

"Testimonials are only useful IF your visitor wants to see them. For many people, particularly in the general public group, testimonials can make them nervous. Most likely they would never consider giving a testimonial let alone a photograph so the logic goes, why would anyone else ? If your landing page does feature photographs then it might be wise to test without them.

So, you have gotten rid of the photographs, but what about the testimonials themselves? I would recommend putting them near the bottom - testimonials are not going to convince the majority of markets to buy and putting them at the top is waste valuable of real estate.

Prioritise your space - realise that many customers want to hear about how the product will help them, not how it helped someone else - unless it is a brief story. I use a combination of pull quotes and testimonials during the e-commerce process to keep confidence high and reduce abandonment of shopping baskets - for me at least, landing pages are too precious for testimonials."
To each his own, I suppose...

I agree with gentlemen above who said something to the tune of maybe hitting the points that people are most concerned about.

So a product specifically dealing with lowering tuition/getting scholarships and then one dealing with getting higher SAT scores to get into chosen college will further enhance your already great offerings.

    Hi

Before I purchased this I'd want to know much more about whats in it. Maybe the section headings or similar? I wouldn't buy at the moment with the limited info on sales page.

I think the suggestions about adding some information about getting grants and raising ACT/SAT scores are relevant, although maybe you've already included that in your product and just need to point it out on the sales page. Maybe you can get testimonials from some of your former students - that would definitely lend credibility. As the mom of a 19 year old that is finally beginning college this month, I can definitely tell you your product has a market (and in my case a 'desparate one'). Good luck with your site!

Let me know when clickbank approves your ebook, because that would be a possibility - I've got to make something work pretty soon to feed my kids as well!!!

LarryOC, who gave you that copywriting advice??? That does not sound like good advice. Testimonials are there to bridge the gap between hesitance and action. Testimonials are very important but the key is they need to look legitimate. That's why I suggested you get audio along with it.

Obviously there are certain placements that need to be tested, but you simply cannot go without testimonials. There are a minute minority of sales pages that doesn't use testimonials...but guess what...they can get away with it because they have other forms of proof.

But testing is key in the end. It depends on your market, but generally speaking testimonials are a good thing.

I hear ya... it's the one thing I've been bouncing back and forth on... I'll look into the audio...it's easy enough to do...

I already implemented your suggestion on the red bullets and replaced them with nice, shiny green arrows.

What do you think of my other plans regarding the affiliate tools page and the podcasts and e-mail captures?

An affiliate tools page is always important, especially if you are getting affiliates from clickbank. They always want creatives. And podcasts are a great way to get traffic if you distribute your podcasts to all the podcasting networks. And building a list is always important...so yes...email captures is a big yes.

    I like it.

My only comment is the paypal text on your payment button makes it look as if you only accept paypal.

Get a big rack of credit cards under the payment button including the clickbank and 100% secure processing etc.

Hope it goes well ... you have obviously invested time and thought into this and deserve to succeed

      Hi John,

Thanks for your observation. I can see how that would be perceived. I've added a Clickbank button with credit card logos...

      What do you think?

I'm not a copywriter, though, I would add some text right after the testimonials and before the Act Now button, some benefits or something like that.

IMO, the page close too fast. And a PS.

I don't make many of these pages but when I come across sales-looking pages like this I never purchase. There's always a better product out there that is NOT on one of these pages and has someone out there talking it up in reputable channels. perhaps spend some energy getting the product reputation up? Again, I'm really the consumer and i tend to dislike these squeeze pages.

also, are you stuck to this domain name? I have a bunch under my belt and I stay away from hyphenated names as a rule.
