What do other warriors think of free safelists/ad sites? Do they work?

Starting out with a limited budget and a need to promote-promote-promote, I have joined various FREE safelist/ad companies. I won't mention any names here - but there are hundreds of them out there I sure you have come across some or even may have joined some before.

My question is do they work are they worth it? Do you need to upgrade to get any benefit? Is the Free membership bogus?

I would like to hear what fellow warriors opinions are regarding these free Safelist/advertising sites - you join one and are prompted to join another and another you end up spending hours sending emails to thousands of members and posting ads up to your limit.

All for nothing it seems - not one single bite! Everyone seems to be interested in sending out their own stuff and promoting - yet no-one on the list seems interested in anything anyone else has to offer - Your list email is bombarded by other members offers, some I will look at and consider-others just get overlooked cause there are so many, I think this would be the same for all members.

I actually think a lot of members have a ''special'' email address that is only for the email list and never look at it at all?! Or is that too cynical of me ?

Do any of you agree that these lists and free advertising sites are a waste of time or have any of you had some positive results using these systems?

If anyone could offer some personal experiences or any alternative sources of promotion that you think has worked for you that would be great.

Thanks

I think they are a waste of time. Are you looking to do manually powered traffic generation or paid advertising?

    Hi Jamesrich1
I was attempting to promote manualy as much as possible on a budget - I don't know if my efforts were at all rewarded - I think everything fell on deaf ears! if you know what I mean? What do you suggest? Paid advertising only?

Don't bother trying to promote a paid product through these type of resources. That will not work.

But you can drive them to your squeeze page and build a relationship with them. Then they MAY become useful leads. I have done this successfully.

What do people on a free safelist want?

Hmm... a safelist is something you join for traffic...

So if someone joins a free safelist...

    They probably want... um...

    Man, this is hard.

Only promote your offers to people who can buy them. People in safelists mostly aren't buyers, they're not even willing visitors. Not the kind of subscriber I want. 9.9 out of ten they don't have the money to purchase online.

I came across them when I first started trying to make money online. They are a complete waste of time because, as you said, everyone is trying to promote their own stuff. The most highly-targeted and free traffic comes by way of the search engines. I would recommend you start a blog in a profitable niche and build a list of targeted subscribers (people who sign up because they are interested in the niche and what you have to offer).

    Good luck,
    Joey

But the people you are promoting to are mostly just like you. Have you bought anything off these lists?

Thanks Miguelito203 very good advice, It seems there are no magic shortcuts and good ol'fashioned blogs are still the way to go!

Kindsavter you're right nobody is interested in buying or even looking who uses the site there - they are all about promoting! thanks

It is a bit like being in a crowd of strangers and everyone is talking about themselves all at the same time! and not listening to anyone else!

There is a magic shortcut and you are on the right track but you need to have a look at paid solo ads! They work great for building your list and back end sales.

Unfortunately the reality is that as with any business you need money to make money and buying a solo ad from the right person can definitely give you the quickest results ever.

You don`t even need a huge budget for this, there are a few WSO`s about solo ads which should point you in the right direction. Just do a search and you will find the shortcut you are looking for.

      Good Luck!

It depends on what you are promoting, and if you're an affiliate or business owner?

I know that if I promote a highly targeted squeezepage that gives away information relating to someone starting out trying to make money online using the internet it generates new leads, and the marketing funnel I have created will generate me some commissions.

The other extreme is that I know just blasting out a copy & paste email to a standard affiliate page will fail.

Like all forms of marketing if you just jump in without doing any research you will fail.

If you want quality on your list, stay far away from safelists.

These guys get spammed to death and usually you will just waste money and bandwidth sending emails out to safelist users. Build a list organically and you will see better results.

I'm new to safelists (as in the last 30 days now). And I've noticed the same, worthless, you get a tons of clicks, but not much else, maybe a few subscribers if that. I have noticed that everyone is promoting the same 6 programs on all the safelists... So I found a paid product that no one is promoting and I posted that to the safelists and I'm actually making money, I've gotten 7 sales in the last 2 weeks totaling just over $100.

Free safelists and ad sites are a no go. Your better off "marketing the usual way" and leading people directly to your sales letter page.
