Site Design:WP blog format vs. Real site format

Does Google have a preference for site design format? I was watching a LinkBackMarketing youtube video and Becker mentioned that a blog posting format is basically retarded and unnatural looking to Google. Personally I would rather read a site that is not a blog but just information organized well (just a site with a bunch of different pages). What I would like to know is: do WP blogs have a ranking disadvantage? Is a more natural site design better for ranking?

I'm sure there will be a lot of different opinions so let's hear them.

There's probably a slight difference, but considering Google calculates over 200 variable in their rankings and has publicly said backlinks are the most important, maybe you should focus on that instead.

It was believed that google actually ranked wordpress sites higher. This may not still be true. But wordpress is so flexible that you can make it look like a static page.

The interactivity of a good blog brings more content and more visitors in a more natural manner than a HTML site.

Its really a choice that makes you comfortable but i do not believe wordpress blogs are penalized in any manner.

One of the things to watch out for in WP is broken links. Make sure if you delete a post or page that it is truly deleted and that the old URL is redirected properly. If you're not anal about this Google will constantly report crawl errors and devalue your site.

Something else to be aware of is plugin bloat. Too many http calls in the head can really slow the site down, which also affects ranking.

Over the years I have found no significant differences in ranking between WP and static sites, so long as the WP installation is proper.

Google doest care about site design. All google cares about is if you have valuable content for its users.

...If only this were actually true, and if only Google had a more reliable means of measuring value and authority.

There are 1000s and 1000s of sites non blog sites that either use wordpress, or use the wordpress look and feel format to get content driven across.

Google does not care, it really comes down what your site is about.
