how to test an Idea

Greetings,

I am a trying to create my own ebook product and/or blog and have tons of ideas.

Does anyone have a process on how to test an idea before investing their time and money into it?


I.e. goolge to see traffic, etc...

      So if i just type my idea in words into google and I don't see any ads on the for those words, does that make it an unprofitable idea?
