I have heard you pay like $100 per day for the banner ad above and need to wait months in a queue, but you get thousands of visitors each day.

You often see the same ad day after day, obviously this means that the advertiser is making more than enough to profit from, otherwise he would not pay for the ads. So it could be a worthwhile investment if your offer is good enough.

If I'm right that's how it works, too. It depends on what you offer and how much you're prepared to pay.

Banner here? You mean the top banner?

You can't determine what will be the CTR % of any banner on ANY website until you try it. It's that simple.

    1. Location & Size of the banner.
    2. Quality of the traffic.
    3. Quality of the banner design/message.
    4. Product offered.
    5. Add 5 more variables...

General feedback. A good banner, offering a good product on a good site with good traffic *should* produce between 1-2% CTR.

And it's not because the banner is huge that you will get clicks.
    Think outside the box.

Yeah, you can't produce an exact CTR like that, every banner is going to convert differently. The banner currently showing, "Get Top Rankings, Click Here!" says nothing of the website you're about to land on, nothing of the product, just the results that they are offering. However, you probably see banners like this on every webmaster forum you go to, because that's what we're all after. So would I expect a banner like this to get a good CTR? Probably not, tbh. It didn't attract my attention, I went right past and I do every time. So a good CTR is all in your banner and the creativeness and marketing skills that went into it.

I cant give you an exact answer what CTR you get from your banner if advertise inthis forum because each banner CTR is different. Banner that convert well from other website doesn't mean it also get the same result from here. So, just test, test and test to find out the winner.

I heard some marketer say, ugly banner usually get the good CTR compare with the nice design banner.

      Hope this help.

If the banner ad at the top of the forum is too expensive for you... you should consider creating a banner image in your signature. These get good results also.
