How many warriors are in the app biz

Hey fellow warriors, I was just wondering how many of you are in the app business.

I just ask because that's what I do and I don't see many post here about that.

I have not seen many either, I know it is a potentially profitable niche but not something I know much about. I think the same goes for many warriors here.

      Hi Oliver,

Yeah it does seem to be one of those "I know of and how profitable it is" kind of situations,

I know that many of my clients originally entered the app market with those simple apps that programmes like appmakr produce but had very, very little response and I know that now apple are rejecting thousands of these apps using the aggregator rule, basically rejecting many apps that offer very little value to the potential user.

But there is one thing that many get right and that is going the free route, instead of selling a app for 99c it's now becoming really popular to simply give it away for free, mainly because of the competition out there on the app market by bigger companies who have a huge marketing budgets, which make it really hard for the new guys to even get a look in.

Going the free route evens the playing field because even though you may be unknown in the app business a couple a reviews can really get the ball rolling simply because users don't have to think twice about downloading your app and also you will have way more downloads if your app is free than if people where buying.

Something one of my clients ignored even after my advice, and only made around 40 sales at 99c now the same client then followed the free route with the same app, did a little promoting nothing major, and the feedback I received last about this app was that after about six month the clients app had earned $71,820 with both inapp purchases and ads.

So the app was worth more free than it was even at a silly low cost like 99c.

      Hey there CBGCash.

        Hi,

You're talking about Android & iOS apps, right?

All the while, I have been doing custom apps and not selling to the public. It's part of my package in Content Development.

Probably would test soon for Android marketplace. See whether I can make some.

Thanks for the sparking the idea.

Hey there azmanar, yeah apps for Android and iOS,

Now I am not really an expert on the android market place but from speaking to people who are and reading articles scattered around the web I am pretty sure the Free route is a 100% go for the Android market based on figures I have seen based on sales in general on android which are pretty poor compared to the hundreds of thousands that download the free android apps.

to monetize your app in android is the same I mentioned above using ad services like google and so on, glad I sparked your idea
