How could I forward traffic without losing the SEO?

Right now i am on page 1 of google for a very good term.

I created a better website that converts WAY better and would like to forward all the traffic from that domain i am on page 1 of google for to this new website.

Is there any way I can do that without losing my rank on page 1? Right now I am just using a redirect on hostgator to send all that traffic to the new domain.

Any tips on how this is done? Thanks

Hi. Your best bet is a 301 redirect. There's no guarantee but this way, you're clearly saying to Google that you moved that page to a new location and more importantly, your visitors will also be forwarded to that new site.

can i do a 301 redirect from hostgator or do i have to do it from godaddy my domain provider?

Cause if i do it from godaddy then i cant redirect someone that would go to www.abc.com/article1

but from hostgator i can do that.
