Anchor text is basically text/keyword that is clickable, like example when you go to Google.com , on the top you will see "Images" "News" etc, those are anchor texts, clickable words/text, which will direct you to another page.
Here are ways to get backlinks.

OK........the above is the explanation I have found using the "search" function.

Could someone put this into layman's terms and how I can make anchor text for some of the software programs that are on the market.....such as GSA, etc.

Hate for the noob question but I just don't get this one. I am learning every day from this and other forums and really appreciate the help.

    Paste it in the body tag of html. If you are using wordpress then click "html" on the new post page and paste this code.
    <a href="http://www.completeURL.com">Anchor Text</a>

        If I were to put in anchor text, would I change the above and put "my" web site into the text?

        Such as:

        </a herf="http://www.myurl.com/"]MyUrl </a>

    OK.

    Those were probably the correct answers.......:-)

    But you completely lost me......:-(

    When one of the tools asks for anchor text, I should just do a C&P on the above???

    Great.

    Thank you everyone for your help.

    This forum has been great since I have never done any of this and really would like to use some of the tools available and not have to pay for everything I need to get my site up at the top of Google for my selected keywords.

    Again, thanks to everyone.
