Anyone dabble with Forex trading?

Curious if any Warriors mess with it at all. (i.e. read any good overview eBooks, etc?)

I've dabbled in it, but I've never done particularly well. Unlike just about any other market, prices are based against another single currency instead of on overall supply and demand, so technical analysis doesn't work the same way. As such, most good strategies I've seen don't rely heavily on technical analysis.

I've been meaning to jump back into Forex, and post to a blog that I've had setup for years about my experiences. I'm finally getting to a point where I feel like I might have the time to actually do it.

I have been involved with Forex trading as well as stocks for nearly 14 years, and doing very well at it even now. There are a lot of scams trying to sell you ebooks on Forex trading most of which are written by those with little or no experience. You can't learn it just by reading a book, although it is a good start.

My suggestion is to play around with a "practice account" you can open at most forex brokers. Try using fxcm.com. They have a practice account, lots of tutorials, some excellent software and charts. You can even open up a micro account for as little as $25.

Most new people lose all their money in Forex, so start off small.

FXCM is not a good place to trade with, they sniff out stop losses... Plus their forex platform (charts) suck... they lack indicators and some of their indicators are not precise...

In my course I tell ppl to use a meta quote (MT4) plafform, far more professional and easier to use, and accurate indicators (well, as accurate as they can be, but darn site better than onada and fxcm's).

FXCM started out as a forex investment scam called C-Currency back in 2000, they lasted 2 years, and moved away never to be seen again, myself and about 20 or so other ppl tracked them down and found they started FXCM, and C-currency was their main pool of funds to start the company up.

The first time I used it I made like $1500 in 3 days using the demo version. I thought, Man this is easy money! So I funded the account with $300 and lost it all in about 5 days.

Haven't tried it since, but still interested. Just haven't got around to it. You can make some easy money with Forex if you know what your doing. Sign up with a Forex site a try out their demo version first.

But you probably want to try the demo for about a month before you go with real money.

I use to trade forex right after I traded stocks, but mostly trade futures (ES, YM) and options on the index ETFs intraday now.

Mikeong88 is right about it being boring sometimes. Also whoever mentioned starting small was right. If you trade full lots you can lose hundreds of dollars in a matter of minutes. Best to start with mini or micro lots. It is also imperative that you have good software to help you along (other than what the brokerage gives you).

I have a friend who teaches forex, knows all the best software and the best brokerages. Ill pm you his contact info.

I've been trading fx for a few years. Mostly I've traded mini futures such as Es & Er for six years now.
