The most effective way to get affiliates?

Hi!

What's the most effective way to get affiliates to join a list and wanting to promote your product?

Or, I read somewhere that people offer exchanges for their lists?

Thanks.

Offer them an all expensive paid holiday to a tropical island. Apparently affiliate marketers have a bit of a thing for sandy beaches and warm clear water. ;-)

Offer a high percentage and if you want the really serious affiliates, provide metrics that will convince them they'll make money if they promote your stuff. Earnings per click is big. Test the offer and be prepared to explain the details.

But if you just want to get numbers of aff's, offer 100% commission early on and focus on building your own list that you can market subsequent products to.

It also helps a lot to have layers of earning potential for aff's. OTO's, upsells, cross-sells....if you have that all in place and offer a cut to the affiliate, they'll at least take a hard look at your offer.

You need to reach out and email them and market your affiliate program. You may get a few affiliates by just putting your product out there and linking to your affiliate program, but generally you will need to email people.

Find people with lists in your niche. It helps to offer increased commission and/or bonuses for them to give their list. I know I have written freebie packs especially for some of my PLR affiliates so they can give them to their lists during promotions.

Like Amanda says above you gotta head hunt these people. Find related sites in your niche and open a dialog with them. Dont scream"promote my product" in the first mail but just give them a few details and see are they interested...

It's a big numbers game and like sales the conversion rates of those who reply and actually go on to promote are small. But it is worth it if you cover enough ground and contact enough people.

a great product is a good start

    generous affiliate comissions

    good affiliate area

offering 100% to affiliates is a good way to do it, and you can still make money on the back end

If you have an IM product, then you should definitely have a pre-launch JV page.

There are a few WSO pre-launch websites that you can use to get some affiliate before you launch your product. Keep them in the loop and stick with deadlines.

That's how I've seen some awesome marketers do this.

Pay them $20 to join your program, offer some kind of bonus plus a very generous commission.

You tie them up and make them do it:

Took three different searches to find a SFW picture of a hog tie. Darn the internet.
