Warrior Plus Redirection Issue (Affiliates BEWARE!)

Heads up everyone.

Looks like overnight sometime a change has been made to Warrior Plus system. Now when you click on the W+ offer links (hop-links) there is a new redirection method in place before you are finally taken to the Warrior thread.

They now use a redirection technique that briefly displays a screen as follows:-




After this you are taken to the WF thread as usual.

Now for those who instead of using the raw hop-link use a cloaking/URL shortening service you may run into problems!

Some services uses "iframes" to display the final page in. Those services probably won't work with this new W+ redirection setup.

So for those who cloak their W+ hop-links in any way you better check that they still work with the new setup.

Most, I guess won't be effected but thought I'd post the warning just in case.

    I was also wondering about this as I saw it when I sent out a newsletter via aweber and the clicks.aweber.com link went to that page first. I don't understand iframes but will the tracking generally work when you with aweber when you turn on the click tracking via the clicks.aweber.com redirection?

      Aweber tracking will still work ok

      It won't be effected by what I have said above.

    Garry,

    I am pretty certain the links are redirecting exactly as they did before, the only difference being the box you now see on the redirection page. In the past that page was just blank while you waited for the redirection -- now he has a box on it with a redirection link people can click (he should have done this a long time ago).

    I don't think this small change should affect anything at all.

      Unfortunately, absolutely not the case WillR - this WILL CAUSE ISSUES with some cloaked links as I mentioned in opening post.

      Just completed some quick testing of my own using some services. Here's what I have found:

      Tinyurl - unaffected
      bit.ly - unaffected
      Viralurl - doesn't work any more and used too.

      Viralurl uses some sort of framing / iframe technique - the other 2 don't.

      Bottom line as per more comment previously:

        Right.

        I still don't see how that would cause an issue. The old W+ links were still redirects and so are the new ones.

        I would say to anyone using services that have the final site shown through an iframe should get rid of that service regardless of these changes -- it's not a great way to do things. Regular redirects should not be affected by something like this at all.

          You're correct and they are not affected. (most services/techniques won't be impacted as I pointed out in my opening comments)

          But some won't work that previously did! (Viralurl is a good example - it worked yesterday with the old method and not today.)

          Just a warning for people to check it out otherwise they'll be missing out on sales if they use services that are no longer compatible with W+.

    viralurl seems to be a spammer favorite anyway. I setup an email filter to automatically delete any message containing their links.

      You're right. It's not the best thing to display before you're taken to a sales page. (just an unnecessary distraction)

      I wonder why W+ have introduced it?

      I wonder if it is something to do with the JVZoo announcement recently that when the warrior forum goes down (or W+) (which they have been doing frequently recently!!) then JVZoo have a feature you can set up so that people get directed to a JVZoo sales page instead of a dead page and thus you don't lose sales.

    I am affected big time. I use twitter to send tweets containing WSO hop-link(s) and its not showing hop/visits any more in my W+ stats!

    One of the example URL (from my tweets) is:

    How can I check the iFrame thing, not sure about it.

    That liink works fine you provided so you are not affected by the new redirection in place that I highlighted.

    Any issue you have with stats is something else I'm afraid

      Any fixes to this? I'm using GoPages Pro and when the redirect starts I end up hanging on a blank page. Can the hop link be edited so there is a more direct approach and still get credit?

      GoPages uses the iFrames.
