Shocker: The One Detail Most Internet Marketer's Miss

With all the details Internet Marketing requires, I was shocked to discover a detail most miss, especially newbies. And that is creating a detailed business plan.

On second thought with all the easy, quick buck claims, forgetting to create a detailed business plan is easy to ignore. All you should have to do is push a button, use this secret or say these words and wallah ... money flies into your bank account. Right?

But the truth is Internet Marketing is just like any other business, it just doesn't require a brick and mortar building. But the rules still apply. And that means after choosing a business, product or service to market, you should create a business plan.

Here's one of the best Free Templates I've found.

Or you can ignore it and keep searching for the next easy money making plan or software.

    I agree, I also think that if people have a detailed business plan this will GREATLY help them from jumping from one thing to the next. They will be less likely to try out each new shiny piece of software since they have already laid out their plan. It essentially makes them accountable and they have already mapped out the steps they need to take.

      You're spot on with that. In fact, that described me 20 years ago. Very little happend until I developed a solid written business and marketing plan. That's when the magic started to happen.

      A busines plan helps you stay focused, on track and less likely to get distracted. In addition, it makes it easier for you to find your target customers and for them to find you.

      For some reason talking about or creating a business plan is not a very sexy subject for Internet Marketing books, courses or ebooks.

    I have to admit that I'm somewhat guilty of this. I have a lot of different projects going all the time and I know that I would greatly increase my efficiency if I'd just sit down and put together and well drawn out plan. In fact, I think I'll get on this tonight!

      I'm with you on thIs one. While planning is definitely something that I engage in, I have never really thought about doing a detailed business plan. Sounds rediculous, considering I've done it in the past for my offline ventures. Thanks for pointing it out.

      You're right, that's something anyone would need to know. But most don't know it automatically, and if so, they definitely don't do it automatically.

      Most flounder, spin their wheels or bounce from one project to the next the first few months ... or years.

      But they don't need to quit, just get informed, create a written plan and take persistent action.

    That is a great resource to have. Most people who come online to make money are looking for a magic button and do not even know to create a business plan let alone how to create one. You have provided an incredible resource for any newbie or frustrated marketer. Seriously, this should go in the sticky section because having a well laid out plan is essential to long term success.

      I agree, creating (and constantly updating) a written business plan is one of those little details that's not emphasized in our industry as much as fast, easy money and push button solutions.

      Oh well, less competition for those who take the time to create one, though. Maybe that's the good news concerning a bussiness plan. It's a fast way to get an edge, because most people don't do it ... or do it very well.

    Hi Niche Man, I agree with you wholeheartedly. I'm one of those who has gone off the tracks a bit. I think most people are just a tad lazy when it comes to these things called biz plans, we know we should do it but keep putting it off pretending there is'nt time or whatever.

      You're spot on. It's not the sexiest part of Internet marketing. Maybe that's why so many people put it off (that's what I first did).

      It was much more exciting to jump right in and get my ads, emails and articles out. I felt the faster I did that the quicker I'd make the big money.

      After all that's what 99% of the books, tapes and software programs I bought promised. They never mentioned creating a business plan. All they said I needed was ... their plan! Needless to say nothing much happened until I created my own plan, so-to-speak.

      Funny, I'd be willing to bet most people you hear talking about getting scammed are the same people who refuse to create a solid business plan.

    It boils down to mental laziness. A business plan requires thinking which most people want to avoid. However, for one to experience long-term success, you need a business plan especially on your marketing funnel.
