Stuck in a Marketing Rut

I am still very much in the learning process when it comes to internet marketing. The company for whose product I am marketing will be rolling our website and marketing materials out on April 1st. In the meantime I have created my own marketing materials and have been marketing via craigslist. I have gotten a few responses and a high level of conversions on those response via the phone and email conversations.

I want to ramp up my marketing, but outside of the flyer (which has done nothing for me) I don't know where else to market. so my questions:

What are examples of good places online to market?

How does one market facebook and twitter effectively?

The product is global, does anyone know craigslist type sites that target other countries?

Thanks in advance for any insight!

    Try this:

Mailing List - Email, Business, Sales Leads, Consumer - InfoUSA

You can do email or direct mail campaigns for your company and use a squeeze page and phone and e-mail follow ups to market your campaign to them.

    Facebook PPC
    Solo ads
Banner advertising on websites that fit your demographics
    SEO
    Article syndication
    Ad on and on...
Its best to get some training before you start throwing money into paid advertising.

You almost just made me have an anneurism.

I have been screaming this at my boss every single month he dumps 5-6 grand on advertising and doesn't make a cent back. Probably for the last 4 months this is all he does, valpak calls, the clipper calls, home improvement guides call, promise him the world, and even though he knows he didn't make a dime last month with them, he STILL effn pays these people.

What confuses me by far the most, this guy is one of the best salesmen I've ever met in my life. Can close almost anyone on anything, but when it comes to people closing things on him, for some reason he reverts back into a child mentality and just burns all his money.

For the OP, and I don't mean to whore your thread out just want to actually help you if I can.

You mentioned 1 word which kinda worried me, just saying "flyers" almost like thats your only way of marketing.

Do you understand that marketing usually needs to be employeed as a system? Are you approaching your marketing from that angle? Rather than just handing out flyers and hoping the flyers sell for you? Because flyers rarely do that all on their own.

Flyers need to be used as a HOOK, and not a SELLING DEVICE. Remember that.
Take whatever product/service you want to sell, become an expert on that product. If you don't know everything about it, how can you possibly motivate others?

Really consider this. Go out into the internet, and start "harvesting value". What I mean by that is start finding the most potent, valuable pieces of advice you can that have to do with what you are selling. Then read a bit about copywriting and start writing up consumer awarness guides.

Include the most potent/interesting facts you can in that guide. Something a person could NEVER find by visiting just 1 website. You are harvesting all the best gems of info from all over google. Take this content or ideas, rewrite them to make them your own.

Like for my marketing I found a pretty urgent message "The EPA Has Leglislated That 11 Billion Dollars Be Put Towards Reducing Pollution From Power Plants".

This means that 11 billion dollars is going to present itself to you the homeowner in the form of higher electric bills. Want to know what you can do about this right now?

Visit XXXXX to download our free consumer awareness report - provide to you by the non-profit group ECO-USA.

I use that to get them hooked, THEN I send out educational materials. Then I follow up with people.

Create a string or system of value. Hook people into that system and make it as compelling as crack. Put your offer all the way at the end. Do NOT offer them anything untill you have first motivated your buyer & educated them a bit. This will increase their confidence towards moving through with a purchase now that they feel that they know more about what you're selling.

Think in terms of VALUE. If you can create it, really create a strong form of value, I believe people will come regardless of whether its marketed perfectly or not.

Let us know how it goes!
