Update: Here it is. The button is called the belcher button - The Belcher Button | Perry Belcher

I found out about something.

Do you see the "add to cart" button on famous guru launches and all kinds of other product?

Gurus wouldn't of used it if it didn't bring in higher conversation rates.

You should never use words like "Buy now" on a sales page.

Check this image out:

Right click and save it on ur computer. Use it on your next product launch.

And yes, i'm not promoting anything, you can see i got no siggy

Well, one could argue that 'add to cart' is misleading if it goes directly to a payment page as 'shopping carts' normally allow you to view your cart and also empty it.
Buy now etc. tells the buyer that this will take them to the payment page.

Oh, really? How do you know that button wasn't put up minutes ago, and is currently being tested? In fact, the "guru" might not even know this button will increase clickthroughs at all.

Why not? Isn't that what you want them to do? Buy/Purchase/Download your product/service?

      Ok clever guy...

2 of the recent BIGGEST launches in the internet marketing world were the arbitrage conspiracy AND mass control. Now check out both.

Why the hell would they use it if it didn't work?

I would not use the text "Add To Cart" on a single product website.

If someone sees "Add To Cart", they're also going to be expecting a "Checkout" button/link and if it doesn't exist - exit confused customer.

If anyone tests it, let us know how you get on.

    Valdor,

If the product is going through a normal one-product digital processing system like clickbank/Paypal, and the product is downloaded instantly then ya..In my opinion the button text is missleading.

An "Add To Cart" button should be used for products with the intention of ordering more products from the same website. The visitor clicks an add to cart button, the product gets added to the web "cart" and the new customer can continue to shop untill they are ready to check out. I think most of us know how this works.

    CPA,

My questions to you still stand.

Is this an image you made yourself?

If this was an image I made for a customer who also paid for it, I'd have to ask you why you think incouraging others to steal my graphics is a cool thing to do, since I never gave you the rights...my main concern and point that most people, including you, missed.

    ChristianM,

Different button graphic altogether. Similar, but not the same.

Here's the deal. Those "gurus" you talk about have promoted websites with products that have tanked. They have also promoted products that made millions. Just because it's on one of "their" sites doesn't mean it will do the same for yours.

    Think for yourself.

No, do you really think I'm designing buttons for Frank Kern and Aymen? lol.

    Are you being a smartass?

Lets get back to your original statements:

"Gurus wouldn't of used it if it didn't bring in higher conversation rates."

I've already suggested my points on why this isn't the best advice for others to follow. This is nothing but my opinion.

    and..

"You should never use words like "Buy now" on a sales page."

    and..

"Right click and save it on ur computer. Use it on your next product launch."

Had anything to do with the video. Maybe you'd be kind enough to clear up directly, because I don't remember seeing the image you posted as one being used in the video. If I missed it, someone let me know.

Are you trying to tell us that you indeed are a member of 43SplitTests.com?

Or did you take the image from "THE ARBITRAGE CONSPIRACY or

    http://masscontrolsite.com?

See, I think you're trying to pull a fast one on little ol' me, and give other Warriors here bad advice that could get them in trouble. That doesn't fly with me.

Bottom line? If that graphic isn't yours, I'd suggest you say so right now, or take it off your OP because things are not looking good for you.

    Just my 2 cents.

I agree that it doesn't appear to be the same image but follows the details of the button almost exactly (blue text, orange bg, 400px wide).

I also don't see why you would need to be a member of 43splittests.com to be allowed to take the button - Deiss openly encourages you to take it from the salespage as far as I can tell. I don't remember anything saying you had to be a member to use it.

Dude from the first time you posted here you are being the smartass.

Why do I have to be a member of that site to take the button. It's free. I can use it wherever I want to. Why would I take it off? I mean man, those "gurus" we are talking about can probably afford a lot of money for graphics but still, they are using this one. Don't you think there's something going on here? Why don't you try it first and then tell I am giving bad advice.

    ChrisitanM,

What I'm saying is, is if that button in fact IS one made available for free use, meaning that it is not bound by copyright, then CPA or anyone else can use it based on the guidelines set by 43splittests.com.

If it's not, meaning that it IS bound by copyright by the person who created it, then that's simply called copyright infringement, and can lead to legal problems.

Since he chooses not to answer the question directly, I would suggest creating/buying your own, or getting one directly from 43splittests.

    CPA,

That's great. But OP's like yours can bring about lots of problems for people.

Wouldn't you agree it would have been a good idea to let other people know the graphic was indeed FREE from copyright before you suggest that people download it and use it on their own sites?

I still don't think you understand this, because it took you this long to back up just one of your statements I questioned, but Jay beat you to it.

The other two, one which has already been answered about the testing part, are both legitimate questions any decent business owner should ask themselves..

    1. As part of the action taking process to minimize as many potential problems as possible
    2. To get accurate answers to generalized statements like:

"You should never use words like "Buy now" on a sales page"

so one can know WHY this is true..or not. Since we may never know the answer from CPA, I'll give you my take on why this is NOT true.

I use a Buy Now button on a site of mine that I haven't touched in months, and it still brings in sales every week. How?

Because the text "Buy Now" best suites MY customers language. In other words, it's the language that has tested best for that particular product, sales pitch, and website. It's congruent with the flow of the sales message.

The button text also keeps the promise. Why?

They are buying something. They are NOT adding something to their "cart" because there is no cart. And if you make someone believe something that is not true, then you are a liar, weather you meant to or not. I don't think any honest person here can disagree with that statement.

I don't make them believe there IS a shopping cart, just because that's what they are used to. There's no need to do that.

Don't care if you're a Frank Kern, Allan Says, Joe Vitale, or a Aymen.

It's missleading, and wrong if you want to be regarded as a strait-up marketer. If you think you're getting away with the fast trick and wanting the long term rewards, remember this...

A pat on the back is inches away from a kick in the ass.

In other words, if you think you have to lie to people in order to get peoples attention, or make sales, your success will not last very long. Been there, done that, not interested.

MAN - some people love to hear the sound of their voice in this thread...

I have seen this "Add to Cart" button ALL OVER the web on different sales letters in different niches.

I would love to know if they are just using it because it has been used by gurus or have in fact done a split test.

Now sure using the words "Add to Cart" might be misleading to visitors in THEORY but when it comes down to what ACTUALLY works, it can be hard to wrap our mind around why sometimes.

A great point has been brought up that if it was used by a guru, how many people would have just purchased regardless of how to button read or looked. I'm sure that the data would prove it had made a significant difference in their split tests for them to bother mentioning it.

I might swap this style button in exchange for my usual green "Click For Instant Access" i use now and see how it tests!

I put this button on some pages of mine where "Add to cart"
describes the action. They click and go to a shopping cart
    with the product added.

It just occurred to me that I like the Anglo-Saxon vulgarity
of it. Three one-syllable words. "Add" is totally positive
in connotation... unlike "buy" which implies parting with
our money. "to"implies motion and excitement, going
somewhere. "Cart" describes a vehicle for getting somewhere.
A thing that is fun to push and ride in. I in fact have
fond memories of riding in shopping carts and there is
anchored pleasure in my brain with the word... much like
    the word "lunch".

    Cool, eh?
