Default Beware of ezine articles thieves | Does anyone know GoArticles guys?

With the help of Google Alerts I discovered that someone copied one of my articles from my blog, Ezines Forum or EzinesArticles.com and posted it on more ezine articles directories under his name and using his resource box

I was pleasantly surprised to see that IdeaMarketers and ArticlesBase responded very quickly to my Copyright Infringement Notice and removed the article within 30 minutes (!) and respectively 2 hours

However, I am quite surprised that nobody from GoArticles bothered at least to confirm the receipt of my Copyright Infringement Notice. After 24 hours I sent them a reminder, but ... nothing. I also forwarded my reminder to their support@... address that is not posted on site but is used to send emails to authors. Nothing by now.

Does anyone know these guys from GoArticles? I mean if you really know them, not if you posted articles on their site. Are they showing their presence somewhere, forums, Twitter, etc?

Adrian

P.S. During the last few weeks, the guy who copied my article submitted to GoArticles over 100 articles. Beware! Your articles may be there, but under another name and resource box. Ronit from ArticlesBase confirmed to me that after my notification he checked better and discovered that the thief posted on their site many articles copied from other people. Of course he removed everything.

this is disturbing.......

it's one thing not screening articles to save manpower, but (c) problems.......

have u tried doing a whois on the domain ?

Sig removed due to a lack of interest.....and since I'm not into selling shovels, it's of no consequence.

1) no email is shown in the who.is database

2) there are plenty of emails on their website, but no one replies.

They are using Network Solutions Private Domain Registration service.

File a DMCA notice with their host. That will get their attention.
Their host is listed at the bottom of every page.

For the moment I'm trying not to go that far I'm still hoping that there is a human being behind them and that person is killing some time somewhere or is just busy. I don't want to assume that GoArticles really doesn't care about laws.

Google a portion of it that's too large to randomly appear in another article. Your top searches will be every indexed page with the article on it.

As a generale rule, I setup a Google Alert for the keywords I'm interested in. These keywords also appear in my own articles.

In this particular case described above, I received a Google Alert where it was mentioned the title of my article. I clicked on that link to see where my article was posted and in this way I seen what that thief made. Then I searched on Google for the title of my article and I discovered other places where my article was posted by that thief.

In the meantime I posted a comment on SiteProNews about this issue. The original post I commented on ... is about GoArticles (SiteProNews belongs to the same network as GoArticles).

Within a few minutes the article disappeared from GoArticles and I was notified by email.

Now I'm gonna update the post from my blog

End of story

Glad to see this one worked out in your behalf. Sadly, I think you will find that as you submit more articles there will be more article leeches that come along and try to use your hard work to pad their own pockets.

I was impressed by the quick response from the other article directories so at least they are concerned for authors and willing to help stop article thieves.

Tim

Hi Adrian,

I'm glad that you got his taken care of. Content theft seems to be a growing problem these days.

I recently found one of my EZA articles on someone's website without my resource box and insisted they remove it.

Get this...the guy changed the article to include my resource box and had the nerve to send me the link to the EZA terms of service. He even went as far as to suggest that I remove my articles from EZA if I didn't want people to use them!

It's a pretty common occurence for content thieves to get defensive when they get caught, but this guy definitely wins the "Content Thief of the Day" award

All The Best,

Tony

Thus providing proof that he's not only a thief - but ignorant, too.

Your solution involves more than the thief, but with his host too. The thief isn't likely to take much notice of you or your complaints. Articles databases certainly should hold some responsibility to ensure the articles are not plagiarized.

This is not something you can let go, not only for your own sake, but for many others he might be robbing.

Highly recommended:
  1. Follow KirkMcD's advice. Contact the thief's hosting company with the information that will identify the thief and inform them of the situation.
  2. Pursue the article database contacts with your concerns. I'm surprised you didn't get any response from GoArticles. Any contact I had with him was reasonably fast. I can't recall how I contacted him, but if he has a form on his site or help desk, use that. He does have a contact link on his site somewhere because I've used it.
  3. If he's using affiliate links in your articles, go directly to the affiliate programs and report him.
This is not the time to play nice, because he certainly isn't. He's a thief and that's all there is to it. It's not a mistake, but a deliberate action to steal from you and anyone else he chooses.

If you cannot get GoArticles' attention, cut the thief off at the pass in the ways I've mentioned.

Follow the links he put in your articles and find him that way and do what you can to stop him.

Sylvia

PS: I missed that post - where you say you got it sorted with GoArticles. However... don't stop there. These are just a few directories you happened to catch. He will continue this behavior until you get to him where it counts - banned from affiliate programs he might be promoting and his own site banned by his host. He will do it again.

You're right but ... I didn't send my complaint to the thief, but to the article directories where he used to post my article

1) KirkMcD's advice was to contact GoArticles's hosting company and that's why I replied saying that for the moment I don't want to go that far. KirkMcD was not talking about thief's hosting company

2) It's difficult to contact thief's hosting company from Singapore and say, "Hey, guys, you host a website for this person... There is nothing wrong (or illegal) with the website or its content, but this person was engaged in this ... BTW, now I don't have any proof for my saying because the article was removed from these directories and anyway I cannot prove who was the person who actually copied my article ..."

What do you think that the hosting company will say?

"Hey, we are not a Police Station! If there is nothing wrong with that website, why did you contact us?" or "Hey, if you don't have any proof ..."

Thank you for your advice, Sylvia, but the truth is that I almost wasted 2 days from my life chasing that damn thief, while maybe he was getting a new hosting company, another pen name, a new website (he was promoting a website registered in January).

What I really don't like is that except for ArticlesBase, the other 2 article directories did NOT remove all thief's articles. Only ArticlesBase checked thief's account, found a lot of copied articles and deleted his account.
