Never Make This Mistake... Ever

I stupidly let the cat out of the bag when I was asking if an expired domain name has any value.

In my thread I said a domain name had a 9 years life before expiring and in that thread I gave close example and someone figured out the real name and had registered the domain name on the 27th... I guess somethings drifted away my attention to other things.

The name was actually copper-mine.com and my example was gold-mine.com, you see. Silly me.

There are about 45000 local searches for that term... and the average cpc is $1... I missed something here.

I will have to go back and dig into my expired domain name list and see if I could find any better.... Dont make this kind of mistake.

    That doesn't mean that someone here sniped it (it could though). Whatever tools you are using to research these names is likely open to everyone else too.

    Very true, could have been here but with the amount of people watching sites that offer to show all expiring and recently expired domains is tremendous. I have seen domains before went to register them and they were gone within minutes sometimes.

    Fwiw, you're just the lastest in a long series of folks who have fallen prey to the notion that floating a domain name idea on a public forum is a good idea. For a few years there I would jump in those threads and remind people the odds get really skewed when you float the idea publicly. But after too many posts like those it got tiring.

    But when you see stats like : Currently Active Users: 18962 (5963 members and 12999 guests) you can see it doesn't have to be a Warrior who put two and two together.

    Sorry you had to learn the hard way. I remember your thread. Perhaps you can be the new bellringer when you see those threads...

      You are right about that. I will never do a thing like that. I will keep my secrets to myself and if I have any question about domain name selling I will have to do it wisely.

    Considering the date... There is more to it than meets the eyes. It is my mistake and I will say it is all my fault. May be due to my inability to be more daring , but wanting to be a perfectionist and not want to make mistake... I had to ask question.

    Even if the tool was opened to everyone, it wouldn't be easy to plug it off just like that because I had to go through a list of over 1000 names, page by page before I could find that one... I am not bothered. I am already working on other names.

    Like I said, It is all my fault!

      Yeah that sucks. I was in the same boat, found a city.com domain with a hyphen in it and it was 8 years old. It was expiring and I bought it off godaddy auctions right away. It was only 10 bucks, I can regret it later. Though I still dont regret it.

    I guess, henceforth, I will have to use namepros for my domain name question. I abandoned my account over 2 year ago. I have just re-opened it. Hmmm... wecome back.
