Where to sell Info Products THAT AREN'T in the IM NICHE

It's all well and good, people say make money by creating an info product and then sell it in the WSO section. Lovely.

But I don't want to spend my life creating WSOs.

I want to create decent info products for other niches.

But what's the best way of getting these out there and sold?

Thanks!

Go to Big-Boards (dot) com and find forums that are about the niche
you're interested in. Find out the biggest problems that the folks in
those forums talk about the most.

Find workable, easy solutions to the most pressing problems, and create
products that do it. you should be able to market to them, as well as
Facebook groups/Pages that refer to your niche. Offer timely posts that
are helpful and aren't spammy. Then slide a few offers in here and there.

MakingGiants and LegitIncomes, thanks for the answers.

I am totally with you on saying too many people are stuck in the whole IM world. I've actually not made much money in the IM niche at all, and just see the outside of IM world better with far more opportunities.

Not to blow hard on my own trumpet, but I can create brilliant info products, and I can create websites and I can create everything for the product... I just can't seem to actually get it sold. And get it in front of the people to buy it.

Besides SEO, getting a site to rank and getting sales that way.

      And without PPC advertising.

      What is there?

Here's one way that can work:

Find the message boards/popular sites that are in your product niche, and then contact the owners of those sites directly, and find out about advertising with them. It could be banners on their sites, or if they have a forum, it could be a "sticky" thread. You could even "sponsor" the site and have your branding take it over for a day, or a week/month, etc...
You could offer to pay a flat ad fee, or you could give them a cut and make the site owner an affiliate.

It totally depends on your niche....but there's a HUGE market outside of "internet marketing". I think some people spend too much time here and get "sucked in", or get "tunnel vision" and start thinking they can only make money with an IM product.
And that's SO FAR from the truth.

People may look at my profile, and see I have a couple thousand posts, been here for several years, and automatically assume I've made most of my money in the IM niche.
That would be a terrible assumption to make. The fact is, I've made the vast majority of my income OUTSIDE of the IM niche. And I suspect this is also the same for many of the very prominent/well known warriors.

Oh, and "makingiants" gave you a pretty good answer.

Tunnel vision is exactly what happens to a lot of IMers, especially newbies. It's important to keep an open mind I think and be willing to think outside the box.

Thanks for that LegitIncome, it's something I will definitely try and use. But obviously that requires an initial investment, which I don't have a huge amount of at the moment.

I'll throw a little money at it and see what happens. If I can get one information product making money then I will have more money to pay for advertising and so on and so forth.

It's because although IM is extremely saturated, it seems like the easy place to make money. You've got the WSO section here on WF and then the equivalents on other IM forums. It makes it easy to sell a product.

With other niches, there's not a market place of Ebooks. Yes, there's the kindle store etc but no niche specific place where people go to buy and just buy.

I think many newbies are scared of other niches.

You can become a vendor with companies such as Clickbank. If you're products are good and are in a high traffic niche you can get affiliates to sell the products for you. Many IM don't sell only products on IM. Use the usual methods that work such as ranking a website with SEO, adwords, etc. If you want to sell products other than one's about making money online then you should find a forum on the subject of the products you do want to sell. This would be your target audience and also help you become an authority in your niche.

Another question would be: What's the best way to go about finding Solo Ads in non-im niches?

Safe-Swaps is great... But for IM again.

The best way to promote and sell your own products is to generate an email list of loyal followers that are related to the types of products in which you are trying to sell.

Going about selling your products this way ensures that you have a loyal following, that you can stay in contact with your customers and receive constructive feedback while generating significant relationships, and it's effective long-term. In fact, I'd say this is the way to generate the maximum amount of profit for that which you're promoting.

In terms of promotion, set up a squeeze page that serves to capture leads. Design something, a small ebook, a video, an audio file, or perhaps some sort of report - make sure it's related to the niche that these people are interested in.

So how do you go about sending prospects to your squeeze page? Start simple, and if you're on a budget, start free.

Go to your favorite search engine and type in [keywords related to the niche I'm promoting] + forum. So if you're niche is about how to roll premium cigars, or something, then use the search phrase "cigar rolling forums", or "cigar forums". I'm sure you get the idea.

Good forums should have a good number of users on it at almost any given time. Make sure there's not just one person logged in and a handful of visitors. If that's the case, don't bother with signing up with that forum.

You should be able to find 3-5 good forums, if not more, and you should be able to make 3-5 posts on each forum every day. In the posts, make sure you're actually giving people good information and being a productive forum member. Nobody care's about the person who just says "good post", or "that's interesting". They see you as a waste of time who's trying to take more from the forum than they're willing to give. In essence, a parasite.

You would do well to include a small promotion in the signature on each of your forum accounts, which should include a link to your squeeze page so that those going through can submit their email and further populate your email list.

Keep an eye out for threads that are posted asking questions that the product or information you're giving away on your squeeze page can provide an answer to. You can explain to the poster how cool the product/information is, and to just submit their email on the page then the product/information is all theirs.

This may seem like a ridiculous way to begin, but there are few ways that are free and are as effective as becoming a contributing member of a forum. You build trust, you establish authority, and you posts usually stay on the forum for the duration of the forum's life, meaning after long enough, you'll have an insane number of backlinks feeding back to your squeeze page from your forum signatures.

    Let's get an overview:

    - Create a "bribe" to get people to put their email into your autoresponder
    - Get an autoresponder (Like Aweber)
    - Set up a squeeze page to capture leads (With your autoresponder on the page)
    - Search for related forums to the info products you're making
    - Sign up to 3-5 forums or more, ones with lots of daily traffic
    - Give each forum profile a signature that promotes and links to your squeeze page
    - Post 3-5 posts or more on each forum EVERY DAY, make sure they're USEFUL posts
    - Build a list of followers that you can build trust with and sell to whenever you like
    - Profit!

There's obviously many other ways to generate traffic, but this is a good start. Don't get sidetracked, if you want to succeed at something, just jump onto it and stick with it until it's complete.

Remember what I said about making productive forum posts. Just like this post that you're reading, what am I doing? I'm establishing myself as an authority figure and building trust. I'm going out of my way to help you, and I hope that you do the same for others.

Remember, you can have everything you want, so long as you help others get what they want first.

First of all, make sure you pick a niche that you are passionate about. Readers will easily be able to tell if you are blowing smoke.

Then, you should make a blog. Blogs are the easiest way for a marketer (in ANY niche) to gain credibility, drive traffic to product pages and squeeze pages, and to interact with readers.

You will have to regularly post articles to this blog. Doing this will keep your site evergreen. You can keyword optimize these articles if you wish, but DO NOT focus solely on SEO. This is one of the biggest mistakes marketers make. A lot of the time, marketers that try to squeeze as many keywords into their articles as they can end up with poorly written articles. If you can SEO-optimize your article and still have it flow and sound natural, then go for it. Just make sure that your articles are top-notch.

Then, when you create a product, use your blog as your launch pad. Before your product release, mention your "upcoming product" in a few of your blog posts, and even create one or two blog posts dedicated solely to letting your readers know that you have a great product coming out soon. Build anticipation. Make readers count down the days until you drop your product.

On release day, not only set up the sales funnel site for the information product, but also create a blog post on your blog with a short sales copy (not too long - less than 1,000 words) that links to your sales/squeeze page.

You should also make two versions of your product: a free version and a paid version. Give away a free version of your final product (a couple chapters if you are selling and eBook, for example) on a squeeze page, which is the index page of your site you set up dedicated to your product. Then, once people opt-in, redirect them to the sales page of the upsell (your product). This could also offer a special price for the actual product as a one time offer, as OTOs are proven to increase sales.

If prospects decline the OTO/product, they will still be able to keep the free product. But, this is where you use email marketing. Make sure to follow up and remind them about the OTO. Once the OTO is over, continue to email them with a bunch of great content and notifications every time you have a new blog post (ONLY if your blog posts are posted with over a week between them - you do not want to flood your lists' inboxes).

You can also advertise affiliate products on your blog and to your list.

But, the point is that this is all based upon your blog. You need one for any niche. Sure, you can get by without one. But your life will be easier with one, and it is a great launchpad for any products you release.

Good luck and good job breaking out of the IM niche!

We have several ebooks in non-IM niches - main marketing avenues are:

    1. Blogs - these pull traffic like crazy and we constantly work on ways to convert this traffic into lists and buyers

    2. Affiliates - we proactively approach sites that get allot of traffic in the same/adjacent markets where we offer review copies and then follow with affiliate offers to bring our products to their lists/readers

    3. Related forums - pretty much every niche has a set of authority forums you want to be active with

    4. SEO (on-page and back-linking strategies) for sure.

    5. Press releases and guest articles - we constantly seek out opportunities to write guest articles or syndicated content...some of these pull really well for months at a time.

You can always upload your non-IM ebook to the Amazon Kindle store.

In fact I'd say that people looking for books in general will tend to head to Amazon first to look for stuff, and only Google second if they don't find what they want on Amazon.

How about Clickbank? There are the affiliates that can't wait to promote your stuff.
