What was your first real "take action" move?

So let's imagine we spent a few months studying the forums, buying books on IM, being excited about the prospect of getting started

then a plan is drawn up, some keyword research is done, maybe a domain name is purchased along with a hosting package

what I want to ask is after that intial research/domain name and hosting purchase, what was your first real move?

was it buying a wordpress theme?

was it writing a welcome page?

was it building a squeeze page?

was it spinning some content?

was it becoming an affiliate?

think back and remember what was your first real moment of toe-dipping into the IM pool, post-plan and research phase

thank you

Simple: My first move was related to a new hobby I had taken up and all of the problems and questions I had encountered when I was learning.

I wrote a manual that answered all of the questions and issues I ran into, and then I made a sales page and uploaded it.

I had my first sale a few weeks later.

My second move was to build an optin page and offer a short free version of this manual in exchange for a name and email.

I wrote a followup sequence that gave more info a little at a time and gently asked people to check out the sales page.

Now - I make sales almost daily on that site and can send an email "special" out and ddo 3 or 4 figures.

    Hope that helps,
    Mike

      interesting...thank you

was the domain name an EMD for the hobby or problems/challenges associated with the hobby?

some people spend a long time searching for an EMD while others get stuck into the content creation and marketing despite the fact they don't have an EMD -I wonder which of these two strategies is wiser?

Your Question on Exact Match Domains...

While those may have been important in the past, they are much less important now. For example, when you search on online backup - you will find Carbonite and Mozy - and neither of those domain names have anything to do with online backup.

What matters is what you site is about and the content your site contains.
