Articles and keywords density???

Hey folks,

I searched the forum and did not find a specific thread for this question. I have seen it mentioned many times but I may be dense to how it is supposed to be done.

So I outsourced my first time for some articles to be written. When you request a keyword density of 2% and your keyword is 7 words long are you telling the writer that you only want your keyword phrase to show up 1x in a 500 word article?

What should I have put in my request to get the proper density?

A 2% density when talking about articles is usually in reference to how many times the word or phrase appears in the whole content. If it is 7 words or 1 word in length, it shouldn't matter.

I spent 3 years as a copywriter for a large SEO firm in the UK and that's how I did it

    Hope that helps

bubbins hit it right on the head. It doesn't matter if your keyword it 20 words long, if you want it to be a certain density, then you need to have the entire phrase together at that density. You also want the main keyword you are trying to rank for to be in your title, and if possible your domain name.

These days, I don't even think about densities and percentages; I believe writing naturally to engage your readers is of much greater importance. I try to include the keyword(s) in the title, the first paragraph and the last paragraph, and that's it.

All my writing gets posted first on my own blog / website, then it's offered for syndication. My purpose is to bring in focused traffic from whomever publishes my content, not necessarily for seo.

Sounds like you are playing with long-tail keywords. That would be difficult to stuff in a 500-word article very often and still sound natural. Two percent is twice every 100 words.

I hope your writer placed some popularly searched alternative terms in your article. I'm sure that the other larger search engines besides Google will get around to giving the angry mommy face to stuffing keywords and put the stuffers in a dark corner.

Far better to write intelligently for the reader's information and enjoyment while you get your point across using carefully-crafted words than stuffing keywords old style.

Use articles to become a popular destination with your readers and the search engines will eventually follow because those readers will comment and share. Bore them to death and beat them over the head with too many keywords and your work will be left behind and ignored.

I think using 7 word k/w 2 times in 100 word will take up about 14 words from your 100 words so it will not sound good to reader. You can ask him the LSI k/w to use instead of it. They also carries good importance and will make your article more readable.
