You will get lots of answers to this question.
Think and Grow Rich is an excellent.
How to Win Friends and Influence People is another.
I could easily list 30 books or more that would be considered among the best.

    Sales book...

I would definitely recommend "Scientific Advertising".

The others listed are crucial as well. Study Gary Halbert, Dan Kennedy, Eben Pagan, and John Carlton. It's impossible to fail, if you persist in applying what these guys teach. Their stuff literally FORCE you to make money, fast!

I think it depends on what you are selling...

Are you selling yourself or a service? Are you selling P to P or B to B? Are you selling a product and if so what market is it in.

True there are many generic books that can give you the basics or the fundamentals of selling. However, generic does not always work in every situation...

Cashvertising by Drew Eric Whitman is a fantastic book that I've studied religiously over the years. It's packed with nothing but the most effective tips, tricks and strategies to sell any product... no filler.

It's especially useful for anyone doing email marketing!

    One of my favourites is.....

How to Out-Sell, Out-Market, Out-Promote, Out-Advertise Everyone Else You Compete Against...Before They Even Know What Hit Them by Paul F Gorman

It is not a book I have seen advertised strangely enough but maybe that is why I think it is so good as if everyone had this information and used it...then we would have reduced our advantage of having it. Oooops I may have said too much already.

    best wishes

I think my advice would be to read every book you can...there is simply not one book that is the "silver bullet" to salemanship.

Each book should build on your knowledge and hopefully in each book you will pick up one or two tips that will make buying and reading the book worthwhile.

    Cheers

    Anton
