Good Traffic, But No Sales. What Do you Think?

Take a look at my website over at http://angularcheilitistreatmentinfo.com

It is a simple niche website aimed at offered a remedy to a common health problem. My issue is that this website is getting over 700 unique a month without a single sale. I made $50 the last few months and now nothing. And i have no idea why nothing has changed.

I tweaked it a little bit but i cant figure out why i am making no sales. Any suggestions?

Where is your traffic coming from? Also how many clicks to the sales page are you getting? I took a look at the your presale page and I liked the story. I would consider buying if I had that problem.

700 unique visitors per month isn't much. What is that? 19 visitors per day? You need more traffic via search engines. What keywords do you have in mind that you would want to rank for?

    I think that's because you're not building a list.

It's terribly difficult to make more than the occasional semi-random sale of a ClickBank product without a list.

What sells the products is the strength of the relationship between the person recommending the product and the customer. And you can't normally establish the credibility and trust needed without first making them subscribers.

And fix your link as well.

Your stats counter at the bottom reads: 60 visitors. Not sure if you have a Google Analytics plugin installed but if not I recommend Google Analyticator.

I agree with Alexa. You need a list. If you have Aweber you can easily create a lightbox form similar to Popupdomination.

Build that list and give them useful emails with links to the clickbank product and not only will you get more sales you will also be building trust that you can use to sell other products as well.

Good luck, and remember that the money is in the list.

There are grammatical issues with the message which may or may not make visitors less inclined to buy into the credibility of the site but the main concern is probably where the traffic is coming from. Also, as others have suggested, list-building is a good way to increase sales/conversion rate.

Hi Guys, Im totally new here in fact have just signed up... from reading i guess this is where I should post, like I said new to forums and this forum had some really interesting topics hence joining...

I have the same problem I seem to get a bit of traffic but struggle with conversions, I have actual product to sell with a market that is being flooded with other sellers... I have a few keywords im working with and in the last couple of days have risen up thanks to a really good package...

All these keywords are going to the link on my site:
    w w w. lithiumav. co. uk / store / electrovoice-speakers-dj-club-ev-live-x-tour-x-electro-voice-amp-cheap-pro-audio.html

I sell speakers etc.. I was wondering how i can increase conversions on the site?

    Keywords:

    Electrovoice
    Electro Voice
    EV Speakers
    EV Live X
    DJ speakers

I have also bought some domains:

which i cant obviously list as i haven't posted 15 times or more, however they are relevant to the keywords / phrases , does this help ?

Any advice would be great a litte over my head but im really trying, I guess I just need to know what to do with the above now !

I have also bought a couple of other domains that I thought I could maybe forward to my shop that would help ?

Just asking for some advice really please !

    Cheers in advance !

ok how are you advertising this website? And I see your aiming for organic constant traffic flow.

Why dont you build a list. If you not sure how, you can message me and Ill walk you through step by step.

Thanks guys for all your great suggestions. The traffic is coming from organic traffic from keywords like "angular cheilitis" and "angular stomatitis", "etc". I am starting to think i should have targeted more specific buying keywords, although you would think the site would be making at least a few sales.

I am going to get an opt in form on there PRONTO.
Do you think i should go with pop up domination or the standard opt in box in the widget area?

Lets pretend for a second that the traffic is coming from a good source, and that you are attracting the right market/traffic for your offer.

The first problem I see is that you are going in for the close to early, you have the right idea, the image of the girls makes it look like your going to tell them an inspirational story of hope and cure.

You then kill it right away with your opening lines, I bet your bounce rate is very high.

    Instead of

    Hey Susan here,

If you are looking for the best way to cure your angular cheilitis quickly, then I’m glad you’ve found this website and i strongly suggest you keep reading…
(But if you want to skip straight to the cure, then
click here to see how i cured my angular cheilitis)

    *****

    You lose them right away

you would be better of starting like this.

My name is susan I understand what you are going through. I have suffered with AC for 10 years and I know what it's like to have an embarrassing looking and painful mouth sore.

I knew I was never going to get a boyfriend because who would want to kiss a girl with a nasty sore on her mouth.

    *****

So now they are hooked continue telling your story and at the very end just say something like

    ****

To find out exactly how I was able to get rid of my AC visit *whatever link .com or whatever.

This was the miracle I was looking for and I hope with all my heart that it will be the same miracle for you.

    *****

I'm assuming this story is true, but if not make sure you have a Actors Portrayal disclaimer somewhere on the page to avoid getting the pants sued off you.

That is not legal advice by the way, I am not a lawyer and know nothing of the sorts. That's just what I see drug commercials doing and I have no idea if it's legal or not.

Anyway, i would usually recommend building a list but in this case it is not really required, this is actually a very powerful CPA strategy used even by big sites like Yahoo and other news sharing sites for a boots in sales when the profits are down.

It can convert upwards of 30% or higher with the right offer and the right traffic. Which in this case if you had your own product in this niche you could still build a list of people who have purchased building strictly a buyer list.

Also the copy on the actual sales page is to small and very straining on the eyes. there is too much bold and underlining.

If that is not your sales page you might want to have one professionally written and use the clickbank bypass code, that way the vendor is still getting sales and you still get your commission everything is legit there, but you are sending traffic to a higher converting sales page.

it works just like it does if you were to link to it regularly, but also make sure to email the vendor and ask for permission to use your sales page. When he see's it is converting higher, he will most likely want to use it for his main page.

I actually learned this when someone did it to me, and it was awesome I didn't mind at all.

Have a pop-up offering a free gift if they choose to leave the site. In return you get their email and put them on the list, then you can try and sell them again by email. Research shows that only a small number of people buy anything the first time. So by putting them on the list you have a better chance of doing it.

Problem Number 1 : Wrong Theme Selection
Your theme isn't good for reading. When I started affiliate marketing I read that a white canvas with black written work converts better than any other canvas and written work. I was little skeptical about this but after testing I found that it isn't really myth my conversions improved 2-3% on each of my website where I made these changes. Try using different theme.

Problem Number 2: Bad Navigation System
Your website navigation options does not show category or recent articles list.

Problem Number 3: No RSS Feed And No List Building
If you are selling a digital product you must build list and if you are building site for physical products or just information you must use feedburner to burn your feed and deliver it via email.

Problem Number 4: No or improper use of image
I don't know what's others opinion on this but so far as I think one image must appear above fold.

Problem Number 4: Improper or wrong placement of affiliate links
There's practically no affiliate links on your blog posts. As an advise I would recommend add an image above fold, link your affiliate link to it and add caption click here to lern more(something that'll appear better as per article).
Below each of your blog post add an advertisement with 3 sentences along with product banner on opposite side of first image.

Problem Number 5: No use of bullet point on hard-sell copy
When you want to make a sell from some perticular page it is important to add bullet points. Your paragraphs must not be greater than 3-4 lines. Make use of bold, italics and heading tag. Make use of red color if you can make use of it properly. Try JSON box if possible or try using a dashed table.

I hope above tips might help you improve your conversions

From a female's point of view, the marketing is a bit in your face and not really trustworthy.

In the who am I section, this Susan sounds a bit random, where do you live? how old are you? With women it is all about building a relationship. Make Susan sound like someone we can relate too.

Second paragraph is a real turn off. Maybe you should change it to "wondering if I would get a boyfriend" and remove " the nasty infected sores" bit. People know they have a problem you don't have spell it out. You are selling a solution be positive.

I also think you clearly state that this is a natural remedy. People like natural things

The problem is TRUST, user interaction is the key, visitor comments and your replies, facebook fan box in the sidebar,

Headline, sub headline, such as "Learn How You Can Get Rid of...."

And you'll make at least 7 sales a month, I have site that gets around 1000 unique visitors a month and makes over $1K (40-50 sales) , 1 out of 20 visitors buy the product,

    hope that helps,

Keep updating your content whenever needed. Also make sure that you keep it fresh and unique too. Keep an eye on the traffic it gets, I mean the nature of traffic. Off target traffic will not serve your purpose. Therefore think in terms of getting targeted traffic to your site. Numbers do not matter after all, it is the quality of the traffic that really matters!

Your ad placement can have a lot to do with why your getting that many visitors and no sales. You need to make sure you play around with it to figure out which ad placement is getting your actual money method seen most. Then if you are getting your ad clicked on at a better rate and still not getting sales, it may have something to do with the traffic you are getting. It's not a bad site so other than that I'm not sure why your not getting conversions.

Are you making this story up? If you are, I have no sympathy for you especially when it comes to health issues. I happened to suffer from this condition in the past.

There is no need to lie and create fake testimony to sell online.

A proper review site converts better. Tell visitors the good and the bad and let them make their own decision. You can still sound neutral even when you are saying good things about the product.

You should write "review" articles, not "sales letters".

If this is a true story, my sincere apology.

Although i have not personally suffered from this condition, this story has been compiled from real sufferers and the corresponding cure which actually works. All the research has been done by me. What is the harm in this? In informing people who need relief from this condition, while i draw a profit from the referral? Its nothing new in internet marketing, to say the least. Anyways please do realize ethics are a little bit more than black and white, there is gray areas.

Since you have done all the research and you want to "inform", why don't you write a good "review" to inform them about the good and the bad?

You can establish yourself as an authority in this area and write from the perspective of a researcher. A good review actually converts better. You can certainly include a few real testimonials (2-3 lines each) to increase conversion.

I know it is a good product looking at the gravity. I was going to buy and try it myself.

I am aware it is common practice to write like you did. When I hired outsourcers to write a review, more than half were writing made up testimonials.

I had to urge them and teach them how to write a proper review.

I learn from Matt Carter who make 5 figure a month on health supplements. Look at how he writes a review:

        Hemorrhoids

He only promotes physical products because they convert much better. CB product is hard to convert. Something for you to think about....

Then bottom line is, how is it working for you? If it is not working, something is not right.

Customers are very smart nowadays, they can see through it.

I am glad that I have been taught by great mentors that the only way to MMO in the long run is to give value to customers. Think in their best interest and help them with their problems.

Honesty is require to build trust.

You must build a list to have long term success online.

When the visitors land on your page, they are "strangers" and they are skeptical because they don't know you. When you give them a free report in exchange for their name and email, they will trust you more because they perceive you as a giver and not a taker.

After that, you can send them useful information, build relationship with them and turn them into "prospects". Once they trust you, it is much easier to sell to them and you can turn them into "customers". Eventually some will become "long term customers" and you can sell to them over and over again.

Think big, think long term and build a list!

        All the best,
        David Loi

I agree with you that that matters a lot.

But I think it also doesn't do any harm to ask yourself whether his conversion-rate's going to go up, or down, if he just runs a spell-check on that site and gets someone whose first language is English to iron out the grossest and most obvious grammatical howlers. You don't exactly need a literature degree to know that "hemorrhoids are" is better English than "hemorrhoids is", and that's in the very first line!

The reality is that many marketers, even quite successful ones, are amazed at what cleaning up the spelling and grammar can do for their conversion-rates.

Selling a product for hemorrhoids, when you don't even bother to spell "hemorrhoids" correctly every time the word's used, just comes across to many potential customers as lazy, careless and unprofessional. And it's so easily corrected, leading to extra income for very little extra work ...

Thanks Alexa. I totally agree with you.

Matt Carter's first language is English. He is a well respected internet marketer. He probably outsourced it to the Philippines.

Speaking of English, this is my greatest obstacle because I am Chinese and English is my second language. I wrote a 30 page report and it took me a week.

I have such a disadvantage and it is so unfair. You people have such an edge in IM compared to many of us who are struggling in this crucial aspect on top of everything else.

    Google Dreams--

I really, really do not mean this to sound overly critical.. and all the marketing advice is great to read But, I do have to comment that I don't think the story sounds as if it was written by a female. And I really think you should loose the comment about "finding a boyriend"-- and stick with your original thought that it makes you feel socially embarassed, and shy- reluctant to get out and date or mingle, so to speak.
I'm also curious about your target audience? Isn't the primary cause of this a vitamin deficiency-- or dentures? those sound like the majority of the people who suffer from this might be a tad older than the young lady on your site doing the selling. I could be wrong.. but a quick check on Web MD came up with those causes.. ?
