Do you think that this list building strategy work?

Hi Warriors,

For the last 2 months i've focused on building a responsive list.I tried Paid traffic but it cost me too much per lead.

Now i want to capture leads with organic ways like article submission, blog posting, forum posting,etc..
But this takes too much time.I want to outsource it and want to try freelance services like (odesk,elance,etc..).

My question is ;

Do you think that this is a good idea hiring an outsource worker with that money to distribute my articles and squeeze page to related web sites instead of spending hundreds of dollars for paid traffic.

Thanks.

Without knowing what kind of paid traffic you're talking about it's hard to say.

I think that there are some sources of paid traffic that might be worthwhile - for instance if someone allowed you to do a solo ad (that they wrote) and mailed it to their buyer's list... well that'd be something I'd consider paying for.

Whereas, if you were using facebook ads and throwing the clicks straight onto your squeeze page.... that'd likely be a waste of money.

I think you'll find that you'll get a better quality of lead from more personal, "organic" traffic sources like posting on forums and whatnot. I know it's time consuming.. but do you want a customer or just a freebie grabber?

Forums, like this one, are a great place for you to share what you know and start to build "know like and trust" factor. People, once they have all of those things with relation to you, are more likely to buy through that affiliate link you want to send them.

I'm all for outsourcing, but without more details it's hard to say.

If you're spending money on PPC ads and directing them to a squeeze page... yeah.. you'll probably have better luck with an outsourced labourer posting things for you.

Give us more info so we can be of better assistance.

    Cheers,
    -Adrian

If I have a budget to work with, in your scenario, I would hire somebody from odesk or guru.com and outsource my work. Reason being, my time is precious and I want to use my time to focus on other important things.

there are many freelancers out there who are experts in specific tasks like list building, forum submission, seo etc and they have internet marketing knowledge also. Of course, you need to read their feedback and interview them thoroughly before hiring somebody. I have had a few bad experiences with freelancers(they will promise you everything when they want the job, but at the end couldn't perform up to par).

Different niche market has different effective ways of getting quality traffic. Maybe pinterest will be good for photography niche market but not IM niche but PR will be good for IM niche but not for photography. You need to test out your niche market and focus on the best (so that you won't waste money unnecessarily).

All the best to you =)

You are talking about putting the most important part of you business in someone elses hand.. I wouldn't advise that.

It's not about how fast you build you list but how well you engage with them.

Focus on creating high quality blog posts and add a call to action on the blog post to sign up for updates .. tell them exactly what they'll be getting.

Then use outsourcers to generate traffic for you or do it yourself.. a few well placed blog comments are going to drive traffic and then hopefully your signup boxes on your posts will work their magic (each of my blog posts has one at the top and one at the bottom)

When outsourcing, or considering 'outsourcing' you just need to ask yourself... "What are the benefits of me doing this for $X?". What will you likely get for your money?

I built a list by creating a free online tool a few years back and obtained about 20 - 30 opt-ins per day. This was just with a little SEO and a bit of exposure in forums etc.

i dont know what paid traffic sources you have tried but if its not working for you then generally there will be a breakdown somewhere in your funnel and for most its usually the squeeze page not converting high enough

once your squeeze page converts well then you can focus on changing your prospects to customers by using a one time offer

using paid traffic is the fastest way to build your list but you do need to have an effective sales funnel set up otherwise your cost per subscriber will be very high and it wont be worth it

personally i wouldnt outsource it because you need to be leaving blog comments and engaging in forums and on social networks you cant just pay someone to do this and its not wise anyway

You must either spend money or time to generate traffic.
To outsource is going to cost you money anyway, I will rather
spend money on solo ads, it is targeted traffic that work.

I totally agree, you can start buying solo ads to start with.

One you have the number, you can do ad swaps which doesn't cost you anything. IMHO, it is more cost effective than outsourcing and also saves you a lot of headache along the way.

Yep. With something as personal as email marketing, I personally would only do things myself. Remember this list will be like your students...You need to know exactly what is involved from start to finish.

Don't be lazy, take necessary action. Free methods aren't that bad, in fact, they can be the most effective.

Although link building strategies are time consuming in a way, they are effective in the long run. Yes, it is not a bad idea to hire a freelancer to complete the link building work. Organic traffic is after the best of all kinds of traffic.

You didn't say much about your experience and what paid traffic sources you used,
but I will assume that you dived in paid traffic without much experience and that it was PPC.

With paid traffic, especially PPC, if you don't know what you are doing you can lose a lot of money.

You can do great with just free traffic. As others stated, organic traffic is the best traffic
since people are genuinely interested in what you have to offer, but it takes time. Paid traffic
can get you results in shorter amount of time, but it takes money. Basically, you spend your
    time or money.

I suggest you get familiar with some free traffic methods, and when you get to know how
everything works and things start rolling, experiment with paid methods, on a smaller scale first.

One great paid traffic source is solo ads, where you pay to a list owner to send your offer
to their list for a fee. Price varies between the sellers and depending on the number of clicks
you wish, but in general, the cost is $0.30 per click, and $1 per lead, and can provide great results.

I outsource a lot of my work when it comes to writing etc. The thing to know is that there are very good workers on the sites you mentioned and then there are people who will have no idea what they are doing and you may be tempted to use them because of low bid prices. However, if you can find a worker who is willing to learn and you are willing to teach them what needs done, you may be able to get one pretty cheap.

It is a good idea but make sure you run the numbers and have some decent funds to pay a real outsourcer to do the work for you. Otherwise you'll end up losing money.

If your going the outsourcing route I'd suggest you hire your own Full time person. At least then you can monitor their work and measure your results. I find this far better that just hiring a contractor for a set time frame.

But prepare to be patient and teach them how you want it to be done - they all need proper training and guidance in the beginning. Good luck with it.
