Purchase International Email List - Site Recommendation?

Hi,

I'm in the process of launching a new website. I currently have a launchrock landing page in place; so visitors can sign up with their email address to be notified once the site is live.

I'm trying to drive traffic and generate more visitor sign ups on the launchrock page. I'm currently doing some SEO on certain keywords to increase my organic SERPs and also some Adword campaigns.

I want to give email marketing a try to see what type of results I receive. This is my first time attempting email marketing; so I'm trying to find a good reputable source to purchase an international email list to mainly target "online shoppers" in UK, Canada, Australia, Europe, et...

My website offers services relating to international shipping; this is why I'm mainly interested in international email lists.

1. Can anyone recommend any reliable websites that you have purchased reliable email lists in the past from?

2. While doing research on the WF site, I came across a lot of posts discussing "Solo Ads". Would this also be another method I could use to drive targeted traffic to my launchrock landing sign up page?

    Dont buy a list.
    Buy solo ads from relevant sources. Google is your friend.

    I would also be interested in trying "solo ads", but I tried searching for "solo ads" to target international users (e.g. UK, Canada, Australia, etc.) that have an interest in online shopping but couldn't find any good "solo ads" sources.

    Can you recommend some good websites where I could find targeted "solo ads" for what I'm looking for?

    Don't buy a list unless you know absolutely where the subscribers came from.

    In most cases the majority of the emails will be dead and you will be accused of spamming. That is not a good idea at all.

    @Tim_Carter: Ok, would taking the "solo ads" approach yield better results than trying to purchase an email list without exactly knowing who the subscribers are within the list?

    @DanielleS: Thanks for the link. These look like legit email lists, but definitely on the pricey side. lol.

    If you are buying an email list, then for the sake of the argument lets assume that the people on that list are real. Then they must have opted in at some point to join that list. Do you think anybody would sign up for something that says "By joining this list you are giving me the right to give your email address to anyone else in the world"........????
    Consider other alternatives like buying advertisements. If your niche is about pets for example and you are trying to target Canadian audience, Goolge "pets blogs Canada" and go through the results to find a blog that rents ad space.

      Yeah, avoid buying lists.

      Even if some sites may claim that each list is only sold once (highly unlikely), the challenge is you can never verify the source and quality of such lists.

      You can consider solo ads, like so many here suggested, or if you already have an existing list of your own and want to extend that reach, then you can consider a JV too.

    Thanks for the replies...

    Ok, it seem like the email lists route wouldn't be as successful as I thought. I'll look into "solo ads" to hopefully get better targetd results.

    I've seen people recommend "safe-swap" and "directory of ezines" for solo ads, but would I be able to find international targeted solo ads on these sites? Or can anyone recommend some good international "solo ads" directories I can search on?
