I've got a spot in my theme where I place ads or products that I wish to promote, however, I want to start off my blog first to build my list before I start promoting products. How do I get rid of this 'Ad spot' ?

Thanks in advance!

    Not underneath 'Categories'?

    What about going into the actual 'Settings' of the theme on the left menu

      Nope, nothing is under categories, and what do you mean by "Settings" of the theme? (I went to themes under Appearance, but I see no "Settings"

    sometimes the theme will have it's own settings on the left main menu (free themes probably don't)

    I'm guessing yours doesn't have it, your best bet is probably to 'hack' into the sidebar file through 'Editor' ....maybe a fiverr job to save you the headache

    hmm, I might as well go check out more themes to find one without the advertisement
    EDIT::
    Found the issue, Google...what can I do without you! haha. Needed to use Editor and delete some code, I just saved myself $5 by Googling!

      NICE WORK! I wish more people would Google! As an added bonus, you also get the satisfaction of having fixed the problem yourself!

    I believe next time you should declare a div class in CSS and declare display:none, that way when you want to monetize this content in the future you can toggle the CSS.
